Wake up call
by vijay saxena on Mar 23, 2010 09:57 AM

Its a wake up call for the residents of gujarat.Development is good and has its side effects. Surrounded by sea from two sides wind/solar/tidal wave energy should be promoted faster than any other growth.Talent is available in abundance. The govt has to simply put all these things on the path of development.

This is wrong logic that more the industries more the pollution. Its the mismanagement of waste thats all.

No body is saying to GO GREEN but simple common sense can go a long way !!

RN Tripathi
CPCB vs Gujarat vs Industrialisation
by RN Tripathi on Mar 22, 2010 06:46 PM

Today Gujarat is best state in totality. If industries grow, polution may also grow, but it should not grow at higher rate than the growth of industries. In general, CPCB or SPCB in India is inert, bribe infested and horrible enough to throw blames on industries while trying to show themselves least polluted. Most industrialists, particularly of new generation cut their project cost by reducing ETP part of project cost and operation as well as maintenance cost of these units.
I had the opportunity to serve a Navaratna PSU & few renouned Private enterprises. While PSU tries to voilate some norms through small gifts, Private undertakings totally wipe off pollution control measures through any amount of bad deeds, which often is less than cost of PC equipts- project, opn. & maint.
I remember, about 8 year back,Mr. Modi visited Ankaleshwar to see that all PC facilities installed over there are put back to function. He declared sharing half of the burden of around Rs 100 crores by state Govt. and saw to it that all the ETPs are revived within 4-6 months. If this report has some truth, I am sure Modi will never leave this to langwish any more. He is sure to redress and more sure to set the concerned people right.
Other states also require to wake-up please.
