800 was market leader for decades. Maruti withdrew it, else with service network of Maruti and its reliabiity it would have been market leader even today. Infact, Alto took its position just because, it is built on same engine with only cosmetic changes. Alto was losing out to M800 because of price difference.

As Indian Govt. has reduced its stake in Maruti-Suzuzki & Suzuki is a major partner , so they want to eliminate M-800 , as they were not getting any royality from this brand due to their contract with Indian Govt. Thats the only reason ,else M800 is still Aam-aadmi's car.. like Bajaj Scooter or Hero-Honda Motorcycle.

One of the main parameters for Indian Car Buyers is MAINTENANCE and several Ford users have been complaining about that point ... Maruti is much better in service quality & network / cost of parts etc.

i have a small family and unmarried so alto is fine for me even it is pocket friendly. I have to go to office thats it.

Currently you are unmarried...but one day you will get married...and you are buying a car not a toy...you need to have that for about 5-7 years so go for Santro or Wagon-R

Pls approach Asim. she is having an old Premier Padmini Car. Other than u, not even a scrap dealer will approach her for the car
I have a swift and it is pretty good. Orange colour.:) Though I dont know the details like milage and all( my butterhalf takes care of that), it didnot give us any problems and is super..

We also have a fiat(premier padmini) bought 22 years back..dont know how to get rid of it though it runs fine, keeps giving problems.

Is it only me or have you guys ever noticed. Santro drivers are the worst drivers on indian roads among 4 wheelers. Aboslutely rash and a type of arrogance that not seen even in the bigger vehicles. Don't believe me ? Next time keep a keen eye on santro cars for a week. You will understand what I mean. Atleast here in Hyderabad its is a known fact. Mostly among the so called IT professionals

i am zeroed on maruti alto, its service stations is just at 1 km. distance from my home. I had selected Maruti Eeko too and Chevy spark but i think alto is reliable.
