- Should accomodate as many people - Should give average 25-30 kmpl or more - Should require 0 maintenance - Should be able to reach speeds upto 180 kmph - Should be able to go through most narrow of lanes - Should have everything loaded (AC, PS, Sound/Video system, airbags, air sickness bags) - Should have auto-wash feature (self-cleaning car)
All this for under 5 lakhs (or maybe, 4 .. wait 3!)
Having a big family in India is a luxury these days. Some even consider it to be a crime.People in metros are living in flats the size of luxury cars/SUVs and driving cars the sizes of matchboxes. The article is totally irrelevant and fails to provide any useful information.
Looks like this guy has just pasted material from somewhere...because its all good written about all the vehicles. dont think he has ever tracked or analysed vehicles...or is it an advertorial (paid editorial). rediff must take care in posting such things
Wonder why Honda has not launched 'Honda Stream' in India. Honda Stream is a 6 seater on Civic platform, and is a great value for money as a 'Big Family mover'. Honda India needs to re-work its product portfolio for India. For instance Honda Jazz - while a great car, is too close to Honda City, and hence is not doing well.
A totally foolish and utterly senseless analyses. He has given everything excepting the basic ones - the price tag and the seating capacity; of course, the mileage too. Just seeing the brand and buy is not the style of big family groups.

cant agree more with shyam sunder. i kept a safari for 3 years. while almost every car is maintainance free for initial 3 years...i spent close to 2.5 lacs on its maintenance. got the tie-rod end changed twice...its fuel injectors have to be compulsorily changed after 60,000 km...break pads also had to be changed within one year. i dont think tata safari is a great technology vehicle. yes it has a decent pick up and is like a king on the road...but stupidly expensive to maintain due to poor technology.

they are talking about tubeless tyres, bumpers same color as body, and other car styling, totally secondary. the current market price of those cars should have been given.
