Indian huh.. if u have stayed abroad and made money abroad, just cos u might have an indian passport, does that make you Indian?? I opened this article cos i thought that it was a news about some university in India. When will we ever get out of this attitude of lauding every indian who lives abroad and has achieved something... so what if it is a university abroad... get over it!!! such a waste of time. isn't there so much more to write about rediff???

You are right, Ashley.

Indians take a lot of pride in their "cultural" heritage but are quick to renounce it to make money in the West.

There should be rule in the West that mandates conversion to Christianity if any Eastern person wants to do business in the West.

Dont comment if you both dont find donating money for educational instt is good, be it in india or abroad. Learn to come out of your narrow and fake patriotic identities. Patriotism and indianness is not related to power of vocal chords. These universities dont admit idiots like you, but keep the door open to anyone from any corner of the globe. Of course, they do it without changing their relgous or cultural identities.
I appreciate Anand for contributing to the land he has taken something from.

there are not meniac and mentals like you. they want merit and you want conversion. only indian chris are mad about the rel because they are just 2.4% and worried about their safety. No contry including arthodox musim bother abotu any thing other than merit. that is why I calledy you as miniac and mental.

I am an IIT-ian. If you really see, it is the students that are chosen are so good that they all shine in life. There is little contribution from the Institute as very liitle is obtained from the study there. When persons really go out to foreign universities, they really see the practical side of things and not all theoritical things that are rammed through our throat in IIT studies. Thus the feeling for the secondary Alma matar is preferred by many for donations. There are also very many students who have made it great and contributed to their respective IIT's. Each person has his own views and objectives.

U r absolutely right. For most of our educational instts(sometimes even for schools), alumnis donate as per their capability. Thats always appreciable, be it in india or abroad.

This is like saying whats so great about parents who bring up the kids, everyone does that.

Have pride in what you are and why are what you are, IIT brand gives you people like you a headstart which is not available to others.

The world is not foolish enough to buy media-hype or your hyper-foolishness. The whole world (the big professors of westers univs and businessmen) recognise IIT, and I know many so called ivy-league (harvard/princeton /yale) students would not pass the entrance exams of IIT.
BTW many other universities of India also are also quite good, but we have problem with teachers, politics and funding.

this is a lie. Many IIT guys go to crap university in US and if they pass the IIT exam, i am sure most harvard and MIT guys would ace it.

Besides, most IITs were started with help from western countries.

I know this with my own experience, I dont want to entertain anybody with lies. BTW I m not an IITian, but many of my close friends, relatives and colleagues r. I have many american friends from yale, harvard princton etc as well and I know their capabilities as compared to our IIT boys, but they are taught by renowned professors and nobel laureates, whereas IIT has got an ill-maintained infrastructure with poor teachers. Also success is never a linear thing, its not necessary an IITian will do well always. On the other hand very few of harvard and yale guys are outstanding geniuses, but rest of them are not as good. IIT guys go to univs of their choices as per the academic programs, they dont need your certificate.
Do you know there is little discrimination against indians or indian instts, only people somehow get it through are IITians, because the univs have good experiences with them, others have to work hard to prove themselves.
If some other country has produced good students other than India, they r china, vietnam, eastern europe including russia. We better follow their model to have more brilliant people to come out.
