Karnataka should develop a long term strategy for inviting auto majors to invest in the state. The advantage that TN & M'rashtra have is both have sea ports. Can Karnataka develop a similar port at Karwar or any other port to neutralize their advantage. It needs to follow a more aggressive policy in getting in more auto manufacturers into the state. It also needs to come out with a permanent solution to its perennial power scarcity problems.

It is a bunch of stupid observa-tions. The fellow does not know that the first IISc was in Bangalore, the first HAL was in Bangalore and much of the success of these was due to the brilliance of the local people. My observation is that the local people are brilliant, relatively more honest and extremely productive in their work. Different political parties may assume power in Karna- taka from time to time, that does not mean that if a particular party comes to power, the people become stupid. In fact, the IT revolution in India started from Bangalore.
it looks funny to read this article ..as today only 2 city in india wer flocaked by auto majors ..pune & chennai...as today except toyota & sick Reva .. none is there in karanata..even Bosch is moved to hosur & coimbator in TN..bcos of recent labour problem in karanatak..article without base..

cars shwo like GM , Nissan are form Mah & TN...looks like rediff needs critics ..so they make fub with karanatak..
is good but with self disciplined people,corruption-less govt machinery and good law and order will take the city to international standards. Even though i am from a neighboring state, i see a better future for Bangalore with the current Govt.

Well, karnataka people are peace-loving indeed be it kannadigas, tuluvas, kodavas or konkanis.....Though there are many ethnic groups,we still see no major conflict between them.....Their unity rocks.........Hope some separatists in neigbouring state learn from them......

Yes, the people from Karnataka are peace loving. The attitude of "HOGLI BIDI PAAPA" is probably not seen in neighbouring States. But there is a major flaw. They passively allow the unbelievably arrogant and corrupt bureaucracy and cops to extract bribes for almost anything. The corruption in Karnataka is so brazen that you can see cops keeping a record of bribes taken so as to see that the bribe money keeps coming in every month from certain sections like the Tourist Bus industry and so on. No where in South India do you see the RTO's, Police, Sales Tax and Forest Department personnel out in the night on a bribe extracting spree as you do in Karnataka. The cops also specialise in harassing people driving vehicles registered in other States which you normally do not see in other South Indian States. I know this from experience over the past 15 years. Kannadigas need to learn to be a little more proactive failing which the day will not be far off when the notoriously corrupt bureaucracy will acquire the shape of an uncontrollable demon. A pity because they do not deserve it. I am a Malayalee but have been travelling to Karnataka on a regular basis and have seen the increase in corruption first hand.

Exactly.....YSR emptied the state's coffers with short-term populist schemes...Now the present govt is reeling under severe pecuniary crisis......TDP govt had long-term vision then. But it failed to take the schemes to the masses properly.....
Now we must say karnataka is for all. Has anybody guts to say all jobs can be grabbed by people from all over India since none of the company mentioned belongs to Kanandigas. at least it belongs to Kirloskar. this you have been saying for marathis for the last 50 years about mumbai. more and more marathis from sangli, kolhapur, solapur, goa and belgaum must capture all thes jobs in these indsutries and render kannadigas jobless as they have done to marthis in pune or mumbai.

what a big joke! kannadigas make up only 2% of whole population of maharashtra, that too the population sizable only in border areas. You should know the statistics before commenting here. While tha tulu speaking population is substantial, there are hardly kannada speaking people in these two cities. As for the cities of sangli, kolhapur, solapur, they will soon become part of karnataka.

This is the era of 21 Century and the old scientific theory hold good now and in the future too- Survival of the fittest! If you want to be there, you have to adopt to the situation, be it kannadiga, Marathi, or Indian or US.. We have to embrace the change and move forward..
