You can't just talk out of the corner of mouth and fool Americans. They know it, but, you guys will never know it.
I guess most of the commenters here are the ones working in cosy a/c environs of software companies with Net connection. I can bet there thousands of them.Engg degree in some non-descript college, broken english , a coding job after campus placement, and a salary disproportionate to ability, skill and knowledge. In US, these guys are called, whether you like it or not, Software Coolies.
Don't shout at me, you know it, the job you do is the low end job which no guy in developed world would touch it. Your parents were bank clerks and now you are Software Clerks. You may draw salaries more than your dad but that does not give you perspective.
What you software coders don't know and will never know is that, Innovation does happen in India, and happens on a massive scale. Most of these go unreported, mainly cos the companies themselves do not want to risk their innovations compromised by exposing it to copy and piracy.
We do a lot of Innovation in India. So, you commies and RoP guys, belittle India if that gives you pleasure. But the fact remains is that, the world is recognising India's worth!

Poor Songitamenon couldnt get a visa for USA and stayed back in gods own country wearing a two piece white lungiand whiteblouse....frustrated. Couldnt get a nice whiteboy for evening outings.....dreams dreams ! You could have been nurse as usual all keralalites are nurses....anyway right to be frustrated but cursing others is bad.

hulagirl - you are as ignorant and duumb as Sangita. She genralised IT guys. You generalised Keralites.
And your aim in life appears to be a US visa and whiteguys for outings. Not very ambitious - are you?

I have been in IT over in the US and am thinking you have never been in this industry. The only time I have heard of the term software coolies are on "indian message boards" in posts written by people who couldnt make it.
Now I agree an IT job is not research oriented. I have heard the term "code monkey" used by nerds in us research programs in US. But that targets the whole IT industry (not just Indians). I dont have a problem with that because these nerds are really good and would have done work that gives them a little credibility.
But when people like you whose only credit to innovation is "not working in IT" call us names, I dont think it carries any value. Just continue your innovative way of life and let us live our life.

Maybe SM krishna got exited just because he got a stage to speak. Unless the govt revamps our education and provide better infrastructure I think we are going to lag behind in innovation. Most of the school and college students spend their time in mugging up and scoring high marks , wasting time and effort in commuting with the ever increasing traffic , schoold/colleges with pathetic infrastructures, the list goes on.. Hopefully things might change in the coming years.

Indians...especially politicians are innovative at earning commissions, kickbacs and corrupt money...that is what he is implying
I get the horrible feeling that Mr. Krishna is a complete misfit as External Affairs minister. I wonder if they were anyone in the audience who didn't chuckle when Mr. Krishna uttered 'global hub of innovation'. Not that Indian are not innovative, but our country does not provide the atmosphere for one to be innovative. So, while Indians are definately innovative, there is no way India is a invation hub. Indians being innovative and India being a hub of innovation are 2 different things and Mr. Krishna is not so naive that he doesn't understand. Yet he commits such stupidity.

I chuckled reading your comment. People make the country. If Indians are innovative, India will be. Rather than demanding for a conducive atmosphere, make one. If there is one guy in the Union Cabinet minister basket, its S.M. Krishna. I foresee a bright India under Krishna and Manmohan singh. I hope SMK moves on to the PM post.

I pity you, Soumya. You need a lesson in Indian political history. I pity you also because all the education your parents gave you has goner down the drain because you hav e just now demonstrated that you don't have the ability to study/understand things by indicators.

Why do you pity her, mr. Rajagopal? What makes you say her education has gone down teh drains? I rather pity YOU!!
You believe Krishna saying India is a global hub of innovation? What have we invented in the recent past? Let me hear from you. Do you know how the world checks about the innovative culture of a country? You have to check how many patents a country filed in a year. Because every invention is patented. It has been so for many years now.
And do you want to know how many innovations we patented in the last year? 82382 from U.S. alone. 84967 from all other countries together. Want to know how many of these are from India? 679 !!!! Its there in the internet. Do a google and find out..

Why do you mix up innovation and invention? And why do you compare US to India, it's known all over that we stand on different planes.
I commented on Soumya because she failed to pick up the tone and the spirit of SM Krishna's statement when he was Marketing India, trying to create an aura. He was just doing what PV Narasimha Rao did a few years ago

Mr Krisha was the Foreign minister earlier when ha was handed over the slip to Prime minister of switzer land regarding Bofor case . What hope we Indian to keep from such ministers
1. Inventing new ways to break the law and order!!! 2. Innovating new ways to piss in public and yet not get caught!!! 3. Innovating new ways to avoid bribing the police even though DL is missing!!! 4. Innovating new ways to convince the indians that UPA is doing a fantastic job!!! 5. Innovating new ways to wipe kayani's and gilani's ass!!! 6. Innovating new ways to avoid investigating the madam's accounts!!! 7. Innovating new ways to give muslims more and more autonomy!!!
biggest problem india faces is the size of its population. We have a huge population that is undernourished and unemployable. Due to massive population growth land available per person in the villages reduced drastically forcing this population to fled to the cities. Family planning should have been enforced immediately after independence in an aggressive manner but our politicians are only interested in the number of votes. It does not matter to them if the voter is well bred or healthy. Now about 80% of population has become a liability to the system and they have no purpose or goal. Politicians count them only as voters and nothing more. There is shortage of power, food, water and every necessary thing. It was the responsibility of the educated people to guide the uneducated to curb population growth and they failed miserably in it. They were crooked and thought that if there is a big population that is undernourished they get plenty of cheap house servants and labors and to serve thier crooked interests they promoted population growth by linking birth to god and heaven. Now for India to go back to a smaller population another 100 good years is needed.

and do you have any remedy for it by yourselves (dont say change the govt, there will 100 others who will have problem with the govt you choose)
we are all good at blaming our country...country is just a land mass as good as or as bad as any other land in the world, if it is devoid of the population.
so we are the ones to be blamed, and that includes you (if you live in India) and me and all the other 120 crores.
agree that at least we should stop falsely claiming 'innovation hub' which bounds back as 'and what are the innovations we did?!'

Rateesh and Manoj have a share in IPL. Thats why they are supporting the cangress.

I guess you suffer from the 'ISI agent syndrome'. If some one doesnt agree with your views, immediately he/she is an ISI agent!?, or have share in IPL, or belongs to INC.hope you understand the value of a messege board and not a follower programme as in some blogs.
and as a omission though i used to be a hardcore fan of cricket, i barely saw the IPL let alone share in IPL (any way i take it as a compliment for being ganged with the rich powerful guys). Sincerely I dislike the over commercialization of the once wonderful game.
