If u live in city buy a Maruthi Alto or SPark

Indian second car market is fraudulent..
by teetee on Jun 01, 2010 03:24 PM

Dealers openly REWIND odometer of used cars...

suggestions:
- if possible buy directly from owner
- consider repair and spare costs and availbility of trained mechanics before buying in addition to running costs
- check the history of car with agency, agency has details when the car was last serviced and at what mileage
- get checked by a qualified mechanic you trust
- pray, say lots of prayers.

Beware of old cars ..
by jaggu on Jun 01, 2010 02:26 PM  | Hide replies

.. Most used cars are due for services , tyre and battery changes etc.

The Mercedes Benz cars cost upwards of Rs. 30000/- for just service and spares can buy your small hatchback. Unless you know a lot do not fool around with expensive old cars. For a 2 nd hand buy - 3 box cars like Maruti SX4 & Hyundai Accent are safer with moderate spare prices almost similar to hatches. The ones to avoid are skoda , Honda and ford for their ridiculous spares prices - as also for their greedy dealers.

The core reason for this is that those car makers who succeed with a small cheap hatchback have cheaper spares & friendly dealerships.

I have bought a new Hyundai Accent Executive around may be 10 months back. I personally suggest that its the value for money car. I got it for 5.3 road price with some free-bies like all car accessories right from car cover and also a sony music player with USB slot as well.... Think the price has come down even further now...
