ethanol in petrol is bad
by prince sirohi on Nov 27, 2012 03:37 PM

Plz search on internet, google, youtube etc, you will find that ethanol blended petrol is bad for your vehicles. Only good thing about ethanol is that it increases the octane number of petrol, but too much (5%) is bad. First thing, ethanol is a good solvent, so it will dissolve any rubber or plastic parts it comes in contact with, like petrol pipes, carburetor inside plastic parts etc, so frequent changes of all these parts and the residue will choke rest of things like jets/injectors etc. ethanol also absorbs moisture from air, so in rainy season, there will be lot of water mixed in your petrol, so much that vehicle will perform poorly or may even stall. It even degrades metal parts. The calorific value of ethanol is less than petrol, so it means less power and less mileage (kms per litre). Plz ask your vehicle manufacturer and they may tell you that your vehicle is intolerable to ethanol blended petrol (atleast 80-90% of vehicles) and if your vehicle is more than 5-10 years old, then you are doomed. Ethanol blended petrol is bad.

ethanol blended petrol is bad

This is wrong propaganda, because sugar lobby wants to earn more money and whose money will it save???...Is petroleum industry ready to reduce the price of petrol by blending ethanol in it …NO …only petroleum companies will save money, and sugar lobby will earn money, common man is nowhere in the picture and even if govt wants to reduce the price of petrol by blending 5% ethanol, how much it can reduce the price of petrol as ethanol costs 30-40 rupees per litre, by mixing it at just 5% by volume, you can`t reduce the price by any significant margin and do we have sufficient ethanol is india, NO, so govt is ready to import also, then where is the cost benefit??.. and in few years ethanol cost will also shoot up, because production is less than demand, then after few years there will be no cost benefit at all and guys plz know that too much ethanol is bad for vehicles.

Before someone files a PIL before SC, the govt take initiative and work for everyones' benifit.
Dear PM take initiative rather passing it on to supreme court, by which ur office becomes subordinate to SC.
