the prices you have quoted in your article is a fantacy. when Tata's project was launched I checked with thier website and the lowest price was Rs12 lakh. the Boisar project was to complete by 2010 December as per the website and the advertisements. I wrote to the address given by Tata Housing and received no reply. I simply doubt the intentions of such projects. In order to get cheap land/loan/credit from the special vehicle instuments, the developers start with low budget projects which by the time these are completed remain no more low budget. There is a need of doing a social audit of all the projects so launched by GO as well as private developers.
Simply because in metros they put a 10 lac , 1 room kitchen , 250 square foot apartment and call it affordable. Whats that for , raising chicken ?
The only way affordable housing possible is bulldoze all the MPs and MLA bunglows in all capitals and build apartments there. They enjoy at the cost of us.
The film on the title'Roti,Kapada aur Makan' by Manoj Kumar about four decades earlier was not full of entertainments but themed on the basic necessity of an Indian. There is no adequate land now to get a house of own on an independent piece of earth, nor it is affordable now.Moreove construction of a house with all amenties with better surroundings like street, road, park, light, facility of water and electricity and severage, drainge, equipped with security besides the facility of communication, commutation, hospital, school etc. at a suitable place and distance could be possible only by owning a flat in an apartment raised by a foresighted builders.'Sone pe suhaga' if the price of a flat is so fixed that one can get it within the means and savings of a common man getting salary between 10k to 50k then the attempts of the builders and the concerned local , state and central government is appreciable and in accordance with the dreams of our 'Fighters of Freedom'from the Britishers.
Affordable means rent is up to 25% of take home pay and ownership home the cost of house is 5 times annual take home pay. Else it is bubble and not feasible.
we talk of democracy and socialism in our country butr it is pity that where ninty percent and more population has income less than 3 lakh cannot afford a home of 400 sq feet while our first citizen occupy a house in acre. What a disparity in life and how our first citizen can live in such a big area. think think and think this is the cause of naxalites and other developing organisation in India andwhy cannot the law maker can understand this prety small thing.. To my understanding they do not want to understand this disparity and the root cause of all problem because of their self interest No housing problem can be solved till thinkers think this way
