RE:What do you do when the media is biased?
by sunil sirohi on Jul 12, 2010 11:43 PM

-I fully support this bandh.
-When the PTI goes out of way to bestow free membership to a political leader Sonia for the first time in Indian History, what do you expect from it?
-Which media had aired that hundreds of cheques of Rs.10,000/- each distributed by the liar PM manmohan in much fanfared public rally to the widows of farmers of Vidharbha who committed suicide BOUNCED?
-Which media has dared to challenge Manmohana who promised price control within 100 days of swearing in of UPA-2?
-Those anti-nationals and traitors, who donot work 10% per day, cringe about bandhs !

Bandh Is A Useful Political Instrument In A Maturing Democracy
by Pradip Mazumder on Jul 12, 2010 11:41 PM

The above conclusion stands correct in an ideal set up where federal agencies do their job sincerely, flawlessly, for example USA, yet there also strikes have been very recently observed in railway, airports, mines etc. Ours is a maturing democracy where even the legislators were observed in sleeping condition or munching snacks, the set of examples can go on ceaselessly. So, the people use Bandh as an instrument to voice their protest, slightly forcibly. Like everything else, Bandhs here have not been organized professionally and each bandh keeps the law-enforcement agencies on tenterhooks which gets further compounded with the involvement of anti-social elements who are sometimes hired to make a bandh successful, this is definitely a suversive activity that warrants disciplinary actions. Certainly, I agree with KS on this but withdrawal of right to Bandh will be an act of Ayatollah. What needs to done is the appropriate legal measures to protect life, property and disciplined social behaviour. Sometimes Bandh loses its significance when people take it as a fun, street soccer and galli cricket are being played with much fanfare. So, Bandh can make or mar a political process depending on its proper use by the political parties. The need of the hour is to use Bandh as a political instrument judiciously.

If the Govt does not act now, it will pay for it.

Don't forget that public memory is shortlived, not that shortlived too. And sometimes public takes some silent decisions which the ruling party does not sense.

When the Govt:

1. Fails to check price rise
2. Totally insensitive to public grievances
3. Does not listen to opposition parties in parliament making mockery of democracy, instead divide them using CBI.
4. Gives arrogant replies to qestions.
5. The English media supports the Govt in all its wrong doings.

The opposition parties have no other option than coming on streets.

I fully support the last Bharat Bandh which did give an impression that there is an opposition which stands by the people issues.

How many Indians understand the economy?
by Kumar M on Jul 12, 2010 11:28 PM  | Hide replies

The agitators are paid hoodlms. They are paid by political parties. That's why we have so much corruption as the netas need money for these types of activities.
How many Indians understand how the economy works? Very few. Subsidies need to go. Then only it will be free market. At the same time, all the PSUs, Air India, etc need to be privatised.

-Everybody in this forum has some very basic knowledge of economics.
-Do you know that this unnecessary inflation burdened on us by UPA-2 is to make ITALY tide over its financial crises?
-When already around 16% inflation, why the haste to de-regulate petrol prices? that too just before G-20 summit !
-Even NDA during its rule with around 5% inflation did not dare deregulate the govt. control over petroleum products.
-Just because the poor farmers donot know these, that a mafiaso could rule with help of some infiltrators and traitors of this country.

Bandh or Hartal is a way of expressing right to protest. This cannot be done away with. Hence we can impose stringent rules before a bandh is called for.
1. A discussion in media (TV and News paper) with respect to the cause of a bandh must be made a prerequisite.
2. A team comprising of all parties should delegate the cause (issue) to government's highest officials ( CM in case of a state and PM in case of entire nation.) This should be made mandatory.
3. Concerned parties, interested people or affected personnel should observe a black day with black stripes on their shoulders first. This should be made mandatory.

The above 3 steps should be made prerequisites for any parties to call for a bandh. So they can say peacefull means of protests have gone unfruitful and there is no other way than a bundh.
By enforcing this we can prevent any tom, dick and harry calling to observe a bundh.

by spider on Jul 12, 2010 11:26 PM

Whoever calls for Bandh, just kill them. Thats the only solution. Some of us lost our lives in these political bandhs. Just kill these dogs who call bandhs and watch on TV sipping whisky as buses are vandalized. Just kill those bastds.

RE:Agreed, adopt Naxalism when the govt. acts as dictator !
by sunil sirohi on Jul 12, 2010 11:24 PM

-There are some elements in our society ready to die silently then to oppose or fight for a right!
-Those who are very naive, do not agree to bandhs should also pay for the poor who earn around Rs.50/- per day.
-Will they? NO!
-Also, in the next step, people would be forced to join naxalism.
-Why not stop paying taxes to the govt.?
