fight with the just, get alongside Google
by Raghavendra Bhat on Jul 01, 2010 08:17 PM

Microsoft is using all methods to subjugate freedom on the Net. It is wanting to sneak in Centrify, slowly levying a 'Microsoft Patent Tax' on gullible net users after an all-out assault on the free software developer community. While taking sides, one has to go with the just, in this case, Google. Microsoft has helped the cruel, anti-people regime in China by stomping on human rights activists' freedom. Microsoft has been instrumental in gaoling Chinese dissident activists.

create an alternative to MS office
by commie basher on Jul 01, 2010 05:17 PM

90% laptop users use Microsoft so that they can use MS Office to do work and other applications to browse internet.
Google OS will do well in browsing internet. But how is it going to replace MS Office. Open Office is still crappy.

Let people create an alternative for MS Office (particularly Excel). Microsoft is doomed from Desktop market.

DOS was written by Bill gates when he worked for IBM, and it is IBM property although Microsoft still have license to use it under the name MS-DOS and have fully integrated it into windows now.
DOS is not dead it works behind the windows.
One can not dispense with DOS as billions of hard drive will stop working overnight losing Data worth millions of trillions.
IBM renamed DOS and now calls its OS2.
Some DOS commands are still not integrated into windows and still needs to be entered.
Mac's don't use DOS but can run windows and related software as well Where as PC, can't Run Mac os and and Mac software.
Mac can see windows and DOS formatted discs but windows cant see Mac formatted disc.
Matter in fact Mac can run What ever is thrown at it in one way or other.

Google Rocks

I am really happy that Google is launching its OS. I am eagerly waiting for this launch and planning to buy a new laptop after this launch with Google Chrome as my system's OS.

"Google Chrome OS will initially be targeted at netbooks." It will not work on Notebooks or PCs. It is not meant to be a replacement for Windows for normal use. None of your windows app will run on Chrome. Basically, it is "Google Chrome browser running within a new windowing system on top of a Linux kernel". So if you are expecting a laptop loaded with Chrome, it may not happen any time soon. Netbooks are slightly diffferent gadgets.

In any case, jumping on to a new OS, fist version, first release will be hara-kiri. None of the apps you love will work, there will surely be bugs and features will be minimal, there will be limited apps that run on the same. Before jumping, looking around and don't be foolish.
