It is this insecurity and awareness that you belong to a stagnating culture that gives rise to this kind of self promotion

As usual professors don't have a clue how things work in real world, especially the ones in field of economics. If all that is needed is to pursue the right policy for economic growth world would be many times richer already. How he is gonna explain 5% growth rate throughout 80s??

Choice of wrong policies

Big claim. What about price rise? Who is responsible for this. Two successive government by our great economist could not solve this problem till date? Only retailers are benefited...The prices are soaring up... the middle class and poor people are being hit hardly with the price rise.

Choice of wrong policies continue in another form...

Dasarathi

Price rise effect me too. but why do we only talk abt price rise? why not salary rise? 40 years before, my father use to get Rs 250 salary, that time edible oil was 180 paise litter. Today a person doing same job as my father is earning 25000 and edible oil may be 150rs litter.
is there any differnce?

Dual citizenship

If the governemnt in India really wants NRI's to participate and contribute to India's rise and economic growth, then why cannot the government institute dual citizenship for all PIOs and OCIs? A foreign passport may still be the dreams of many Indians, but if you talk to NRI's in foreign lands, many of them will confess that they would like to maintain their Indian passport and connections too, and maybe return to India at some point in their lives. Allowing dual citizenship will pave the way for these people to return when they would like to, and bring valuable knowledge, experience and skills back with them

Fried,

It is quite easy to wish for and dream about things.

Once these Indians are taxed on both continents, we'll see how badly they want to keep their 'connection' to India.

Well those who invest in India are taxed even now, and shall be then too. But it shall make their investing process easier.

Changing India

Funny how he omitted to mention the IMF- the real initiator of economic reforms to the then bankrupt nation, as a result of the demise of the USSR and its dogged adherence to the destructive socialist policies of Nehru and his venal successors.
It was not MMS, but the IMF which demanded India initiate economic reforms- in return for the loan of a measly few billions to stave of utter bankruptcy, and to compound the humiliation, India had to also physically pledge her gold reserves as collateral.

Indian media and Nehru's party are in partnership to spread false propaganda with bull crap reports and fake growth rates to attract FIIs and con them into pumping money in projects that will benefit a few groups of individual i.e. their chelas and supporters.

The rest of India will continue to slog like slaves till death liberates them from the maya jaal that is life.
