There are many business field which has not seen the light of competition so far. One of them is Cement Industry even though industry captains have been putting up facade of over capacity which is far away from truth. Had there been competition in cement sector, players would have given thrust to pruing up their marketing team but still old traditional sort of marketing activities is taken up with the face of marketing force still old sullen,rustic and embittered. We immediately need the capacity addition to the tune of 60-70 Mn tonne to the present production capacity to bridge the deficit of demand vs supply. Till then ,cartilisation in cement companies will exist and consequent to which price of cement will remain up and therefore cost of construction will continue to spiral.
Why there is no headway in cement projects proposed by Reliance,Welspun, Ruchi Soya, Nirma, ABG Shipyard and others. Was it all cosmetic and Govt again played with the sentiment of common men. It is largely cement as commodity which is weighing heaving on common men's pocket and its cost is rubbing its ugly impact on Construction cost and making House unaffordable.
We, Indians, need at least 50 more cement companies to break Cartelisation which is existing without any question.
