the big thing everyone misses is the REAL exchange rate:
a good coder's salary in the US is about 6000 USD
in that money, he can buy 7-8 of these $800 nokia netbooks.
The decent coder's salary in India is 50,000 INR
Now to buy ONE netbook it costs 40k
to buy 7-8 netbooks it costs 3,00,000 INR monthly salary.
Do you now realise why the hardware import and reselling business makes people rich?
Because Indian coders can afford only ONE instead of the 8 that US coders can afford.
India is 5-8 times more expensive than US if you think in terms of purchases.
All that difference money goes into someone's pockets.
I leave that as an exercise to you to figure out how that 7-to-1 ratio is divided among the richer class in India or abroad.
All those who complain in American that Indians have it easy are oblivious to this fact.
This is also why India lags behind the US in technology adoption
This is also why India will always be forced to do outsourcing and Indian middle class will always be forced to pay huge amounts from their pockets for things that Americans get for cheap.

In the Indian 'official' market you are right, the HD2 is the best. I have found that overall though, the HTC Touch Pro 2 is the best. It is not yet available in India (should be in a couple of months), but is available on the gray market and unlocked version can easily be purchased off eBay UK or US.
