Re: Why this fixation on Luxury SUVs?

last month, 500 nano's were booked and the same month 500 plus Mercedes Benz were also booked - so there is equal opportunity in India for every one to loot Indian money

It is not so simple. The 500 Nanos will feed 5 Crore worth of Roti to workers of Ahmedabad Factory in long run - but the 500 Mercedes will buy Rs.250 crore worth of beer for Germans.

hmm..that's true, but the unfortunate end is we should be happy with the roties for giving space for others to come here to make money and have beer in their country!

So you agree that 500 Mercedes sales are a misfortune for the Indians?
These car makers are just making the Indian rich/upper middle class clear fools - in the next 2-3 years all the SUVs would range between 8-10 lakhs due to multiple competitors by then - these ppl are just zipping whatever possible money now itself to cover future losses....
Looks like more people are talking about being rich and poor. Interesting, as this reflects a change in Indians. Anyway, the pric range mentioned for porche, in this article, is too low. It could be in the rane of 35,00,000
You need this type of MUV for long travel and need a very luxury one or 2 seated car [ seats to be arranged one at the back of other and not side by side] W x L shall be 1m x 3 m for office travel in city. Someone has to design it to decongest world cities.
The need in Indian cities is for small energy-efficient cars; not gas-guzzling SUVs. Ban them from city roads. Promote Smart, Reva, etc. Best way is to improve public mass transport - metro, buses, and access to them using cycles - but that is a distant dream

You cant ban them. However, price them out with taxes/octroi.etc so that only the few filthy rich use them. No harm if a few people use them. They will pay through their nose for the privilege. One thing India should do is not provide subsidized diesel for private vehicles. It is ironic that the filthy rich buy diesel cars while the common man uses petrol.

typical lower class mentality who doesn't think of go ahead in life but always think of how to downgrade more and more so that man becomes rat
SUVs are a bane inside the cities. its good to follow paris, where they have banned SUVs inside cities. the rich are following the phallic syndrome. like ambani they want everything to follow their phallic showoff over the top distasteful vulgar display of wealth. a healthy dose of democracy not mobocracy will restore sanity

you must be sadistic. After one works hard and earn money to be able to buy a suv, why should others feel jealous..
