dreams are free, Mani. I have been hearing these kinds of talks for the past 30 years like "we will be super power in 2000", "we will host Olympics in 2012", "we are the greatest minds in the planet", "Our Rupee will be the World dominating currency in 2010", "India will be Asian Leader in 2015", etc, etc, etc. All these talks are just scraps made out of emotion but nothing else. We are now in 2010, still our daily life situation became worse than 1990, still unable to solve the water scarcity problem in our country, still unable to provide basic needs to all the citizens, still thousands of our villages are in dark without electricity, water, road; still millions of our people are in the poverty due to unemployment, still unable to reduce the corruptions. There is NO shortage for these kinds of bullshit talks like becomeing Superpower, EconomicKing, hosting Olympics in 2016, etc . Dreams are free for all; and there are millions of indians like you, just living in the dream world and refuse to wake up to face the reality and accept the truths/facts.

you must be joking. India will not be a super power/ develop country till these currupt polyticians are there.
Living in this country has become a pain day by day...This is the same feeling for many youths and I sware this feeling will ever increase. Once I used to love my country but I feel shame now!
If every indian takes to yoga the country can be a super power because yoga has the charisma to make a man happy with whatever he has, a man does not go overboard on sexuality, a man does not get intoxicated and always thinks of nation.

Happy men are content and have no desire to lead, innovate, etc. etc. Ever see the Chinese Happy man, he only sits on one place showing off his big tummy. So dream on my fellow Indians...To be a superpower you got to be half crazy......Like the great Intel chief said to be at the top you must have some crazy nuetrons in your brains.
MM Singh government is a big failure and thorughly corrupt and boneless setup.They are using pranks like rupee symbol to fool Indians that India is great and progressing.Indian rupee is not accepted any where except may be Bangladesh or Nepal.Indian currency has no value any where.In Financial markets itself india has pea nuts share and this country depends on FII money for health of share markets.If FIIs withdraw 5000 crores in one week the market falls by 3-4%.The beggars should stop posing like rich.The naked truth is India is a thouroghly rotten and corrupt society where police and judiciary are non existant and full of criminals.Indian politicians is full of criminlas.As regards this symbol.What was wrong in writing simple 'ra' in hindu alphabet? Then it would not be acceptable to southies. Hence one more line is added.The symbol is so sore looking to eye.Simple writing 'Re' would have been adequate.It is all comedy and nothing else.

So far we were writing Rs. instead of this symbol and there was no problem atall. Was there really a need to have another symbol. This was gust agimmic of govt to show that India has come on world map as a growing economy.

It is called devanagiri, not Hindu alphabet. Devanagiri possibly predates Hinduism as we know it today, and if Hindu is used in its original meaning (Indian), then Brahmi, and all other derivatives of that script including Tamil are Hindu.
As far as a symbol is concerned, it was just self-aggrandizing. The rupee is not a significant currency of international trade and investment. Why? India's fiscal balance sheet is not good enough to make it more trustworthy than other currencies. Despite the woes of the US, EU and the Yen, they are safer bets.

Agree, FII money is temporary. like philipines. India has no value of its own that make it superpower in next 1000000 years. caste, religion, and curruption not only the pilitician but commom ppl are corrupt. there is no future for this type country than rule by others, invaders like pakistan, china. Majority of indians look at obama as leader than mms or thier own so what u expect?

ra in hindu alphabet with a dash it is. Your cynical view is well taken but a genuine effort is needed to put the millions of poor into sustaining class and let us not take away the good work done from Narasimha Rao govt onwards
