You have excess built-up area, which will be used up sooner or later. The excess is only about 17 per cent, which is okay. Do not sensationalise non-issues. The excess area built up could be utilised for providing more amenities to passengers.
Just consider if the projections for the future were very conservative and the airport area was found insufficient for the demand. Can you imagine how much it will cost to build up that space. Please refrain from creating such hype.
