Pollution woes? Here's a low-cost Indian solution!
by Ajit Birdi on Nov 19, 2012 02:03 AM

Although this person has solved his own problem, but it does not have any merit in india forget the world.
Don't we already have silencers on cars and trucks to reduce noise and catalysts to reduce carbon pollution.
If one do not know about these items then look under your car for a big cylindrical item that is the silencer and and the catalyst is also in a similar cylindrical housing, ( unless Indian cars are not fitted with one) then it is a different story.
Only place to check it on the internet.
all commercial and non commercial engines are also fitted wit a silencer of a type.
Even a single cylinder lawn mover engine has one.
There fore nothing innovative or inventive about all this just an extension and modification of something that has been in use since the invention of internal combustion engine a century and a half ago.
Still good luck to the best efforts of this person.
KEEP GOING.

well done
by Indranuj Dey on Aug 29, 2010 04:10 PM

well done. such stories are really inspirational.

however i would like to point out that the filter being a passive devise cannot breakdown CO and CO2 molecules to carbon and O2. What is collected is unburnt carbon, and due to the increased surface area of interaction, the CO gets converted to CO2 which is less harmful.

Our politicians are not innovations savvy

this is sad..indians outside the country go and gain a lot of appreciation for their innovations--contributions, but in india..innovations are silently ignored..

Blame it on our babus and their insecurity. Remember Ramar Pillai and his bio-fuel claim? It may have been hot gas but he wasn't entirely b'sing either as jatropha based bio fuels are in good demand.

Good work

Keep up the good work. Whether it is going to be earth shaking or otherwise, for an unlettered man to do so much itself is credible.

Mr.Sinha, don't worry about the adverse comments here. These people are probably failures in life and cannot stand to see another succeed.

goof up?
by ratheesh raman on Aug 28, 2010 06:23 PM

a catalytic converter converts carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide and reduces the co levels.
but can co2 be converted to carbon and oxygen again with a net gain of energy as is mentioned in the article.
i guess what is being collected is the carbon black (soot).
i think there is a goof up with the reporter.
but not shying from congratulating the innovator, good job any effort in reducing any sort of pollution is welcome.

Ok now for fun sake....Can some one create a device to be attached to Indian back sides...as we are racing to be the worlds most populous country....we will also be known as the worlds most farting nation. Now the amount of farts ( green house gasses) we along with our bovine friends will defenitly constitute in higher rate of global warming. Nod dont say i've never warned anyone.
