Shareholding pattern
by Samar Singh on Aug 29, 2010 05:21 PM

does anyone know about its shareholding pattern in detail?
last I checked was, British American Tobacco (BAT) owns minority shares in ITC, but that minority shareholding is more than any single Indian corporate. The govt owns nothing in ITC. also India is the world'd second largest tobacco producer, why is then that ITC is not in top 5 tobacco companies in the world, I think it's because it is still an affiliate of BAT. please clarify if anyone knows more

Glorious?

Are these people crazy?

How can anyone laud a company like ITC?

And before they do, why don't they publish the number of people who got and died of cancer by using the products of this company?

This is truly shameful.

WE SHOULD NOT JUST LOOK AT ITC FROM NEGATIVE POINT OF VIEW,BECAUSE JUST SAYING TO ITC TO LEAVE THIS BUSINESS IS NOT GOING TO WORK. WE OURSELF[SMOKERS] SHOULD THINK OF BEING APART FROM IT. EVEV IF ITC STOPS PRODUCTION SOMEONE ELSE WILL START IT DOING.
AGAIN LOOK AT WHAT ITC IS DOING FOR INDIAN ECONOMY.

it is costlier
by sunny India on Aug 28, 2010 09:27 PM

Cigarette is costlier and any price reduction is a threat to home-grown beedi industry.

What a rich-poor divide; few have cigars and many spend days with beedi.

Two months back a exemployee of ITC came to me for a free consulation.Since she had approached me academically ,I was inclined to forgo the charges. She said she was the secretary of the then top honcho of ITC.But when she retired she had a very paltry retirement benefits.I was shocked that a woman who moved in the corridors of a dynamic corporate house wasdeprived of essential benefits post retirement. Then I realised that current gigantic nature of many corporation have wooden feet

It is one of the recent success stories. Many have grown up hearing Sahara daily schemes. They could have been another reliance, but lost it.

But they have huge land bank all over India and that can make them a much richer.

smooking is dharma or drama ?
by kari on Aug 24, 2010 03:27 PM  | Hide replies

I chose to deal with the issue of smoking as a "little fox" because most people that indulge in this practice do not realize the toll it takes on the longivity of their lives until it is too late. I read a shocking statistic that stated "the heavy smoker pays with 34.6 minutes of life for each cigarette he smokes. The pack-a-day smoker pays with 11.5 hours for each pack he smokes." This would equate to someone's life span being cut almost in half due to the evil of smoking. The Lord promises us long life in the Bible but those who violate His commandments are choosing to shorten their own lives.

Really very good to hear that ITC has hit century.
I request ITC to concentrate more on Agriculture related programmes and reduce the Cigarette business which is harmful to health
