People now are struck to Bsnl fixed line and if number portability is implemented, people will go to Tata,Reliance etc who are offering far better rates that too in Life time Prepaid with No rentals. In Bsnl fixed prepaid is too costly, and in postpaid monthly rental and billing problems are too much.
Will Bsnl now act preemptively to counter the competition coming?, Then top bsnl officials once retired they are directly joining private telecom companies, No wonder Bsnl policies are designed to help private players.

Sir, I am only talking about the high tariffs compared to competitors. And once number portability come people can easily move their fixed line numbers used for years to private players who don’t charge rental.
Already without number portability, some people are surrendering Bsnl fixed phones and making mobile phone as home phone, because it is lifetime prepaid with no rentals.
I know compulsions of bsnl for charging rental like maintaining wire line etc…, but will people understand this, with alternatives available cheaper.
So some suggestions
1.BSNL should immediately provide option of Life time Prepaid in Landline with NO RENTALS and competitive tariffs like private players.
2.If No rental in Wire line is not possible, give the subscribers the option to go for WLL/walky with Life time prepaid and competitive tariffs like private players. And NO RENTALs please………
Otherwise just because of Deepika Padukone people may not stay with BSNL Fixed.
Hope I have not offended any. But have to put it bluntly about real situations. Thanks

But! You have to admit they don't have any hidden agenda like Private players. The landline Quality and other facities of BSNL are far better.

Thanks for reply. Me too want BSNL to stay, and don’t want private players to have complete control. A company with some social objective is very much necessary. Unfortunately recent developments don’t give us much hope.
About top officials joining other private players after retirement, I am speaking from facts. Even trade unions are complaining about this. I think now there is some waiting period stipulated before joining other private players.
I personally know a bsnl employee said about public telephone operators /pco were lured to other private players, possibly with the help of existing bsnl employees.
It is still one digit short compared to UK land lines. Which are 11 digits. take for example London which have two different city code. central London have 020 7 and outer London have 0208 as city code followed by 3 digit area code and 4 digit telephone number. a London telephone reads as 0207 000 0000 or 0208 000 0000. and UK has 10 times few phones then India.

your logic on memory feature in phone really made me laugh. People are so dependent on technology that there seems not much work for brains to remember.
Example is calculators, how many of us nowadays will double check with calculator, even simple maths just to be sure.
Anyway can you tell your phone number without checking with memory feature of phone?, just curious. Best of luck.

No the Problem is with Routing. Exchanges Cannot handle such number. Any way we do not design the Exchanges. Unless it is implimented in Some other country we cannot do it.
