This is one of the main threat to the indian youth..The banks are just making profits of this stupid cards..issueing them without the consent of the person..Once you get the card..u will not feel like to return them...you use it once then your circus starts to repay pay,pay,pay,pay.....go on paying once bloody banks you see them charging hundreds and thousands...And talk about banks hiring goondas to collect the money...!!! your Trapped...sincere request to all card users or new card holders...use it clear the bills next month itself.....otherwise.....ur TRAPPED....!!!!!! AND GOVT OR RBI NONE OF THIS GIVE DAMN TO THE PUBLIC SAFETY ON CREDID CARD ISSUES...COZ THEY GEETING WHAT THEY WANT 48% INTEREST....USE WISELY...PAY WISELY...
People do not blame the Credit Card if you do not have the discipline. Credit Card's are the best way to boost the economic prosperity of a country and rotate "money" that is created in the future. It is the proven tool. We must all use 2-3 credit cards but be responsible and pay our dues on time. 1 billion people paying their bills on time means assuming spends Rs100 per month means money rotation of (100) power 1 billion in a fluid economy. Think how many people can be brought out of poverty.

nowadays it is much more difficult to get a credit card from banks. as when enquired from SBI they say it is not sure whether u wil get cc because bank is not promoting more cc holder. even when all my accounts are operated in their bank. it is era of plastic money. banks should be open to it.

Dont go for SBI cards. SBI has still not cultivated that mentslity of plastic money, online (virtual) banking. A week back, they refused to accept an Axis bank cheque for payment into my PPF account. I would suggest you to go for ICICI or AXIS bank credit cards. HDFC is also a good option.

I had canceled my SBI Card in 2004. Cut it in 4 pieces and returned it to the bank. Got a confirmation that the credit card has been canceled.
I am still getting statements with demand for membership fee.

Except for govt. banks try any other pvt. sector bank, its very unlikely they would turn you down if you have all the required documents.
