Hey, he got the honorary doctorate from Annamalai University by force. He was not conferred for his services. He proclaimed himself Dr. and told that Annamalai University gave it to him.

He is a real A**H**E.

Karunanidhi will indeed get annoyed about your comment and some DMK workers might attack you for showing their leader inferior to Ms.Jayalalitha.

Make Iyer a Minister again :mouth will close
by navin chawla on Aug 19, 2010 11:10 PM

If Mani Shankar is made a minister again then surely he will close his hole in a minute thereafter. All this is to garner support to become a minister. Then tell me if he utters a word of discontent or creates any controvery.

Our cynicism knows no bounds
by Rajeev Aggarwal on Aug 19, 2010 09:35 PM  | Hide replies

Many of the readers are trying to find faults in Mr Aiyar's latest actions. I would agree that this person is not a clean person himself and has been a part of similar criminally negligent policies of Congress all this time. However, we should try to extract whatever good we can from his latest activities. It is definitely helping to open up the Pandora boxes of corruption. It is good and we should be thankful to Mr Aiyar for that. Our cynicism in finding faults in everybody is the only thing which is worse than our callousness and ignorance.

...and as an add on, it might be at the instructions from Sonia. The strategy might be to fill environment with corruption news and then project Rahul as the saviour. I am sure people would fall for it. On a personal not, I am not much against it either. If we are going to get shafted by Congress party anyway, it would be better if the leading person is young blood.

Attracting Media
by Shonia on Aug 19, 2010 09:24 PM  | Hide replies

Maybe there is something on mind of Mani Shankar Aiyar, otherwise in a month having lifted two controversies by a Man who was asleep for long time for media.
Anyways as I have replied below to Heman Udeshi's message, Mani Shankar Aiyar is not a clean guy himself. Clean person does not need media to cover all his moves. People in respective area realizes the jobs done by Member of Parliament or other members and appreciate them by re-electing them.
A true politician does his own job perfectly well and then start making other jobs go in right direction. Finding faults does not make you a good leader Mr. Aiyar.

Mani speaks for Sonia family. He raises these controversies so the family members can stay aloof without getting involved.

Ask your true Congress man that what did he do when he was a Petroleum Minister & when which document he signed while his visit to China with Chinese Govt?
Just for your information, he signed a very wrong deal due to which he had to leave his Petroleum Ministry within a week time after his visit to China.
Ask your true Congress Man as what did he do as a Sports Minister instead of blaming Govt for not getting ready with CWG games 3 years back, he was also suppose to play a key role in getting Delhi ready for CWG.

Mani Shankar Aiyar and the UPA
by sridharan r on Aug 19, 2010 03:06 PM  | Hide replies

One hopes that Mr Aiyar is airing his very independent views which are critical of the UPA Govt. purely reflecting his concern for the people and not at the behest of the first family of the Congress. He should also take up cudgels against the party leadership which is also equally responsible for the failures of the Govt.

There is a truth in your suspicion. Doesn't it reflect the impotent, futile and sorry state of opposition parties?.

Democracy and governance will work smooth and properly if we have sensible and smart opposition parties. Looks like , opposition parties have lost their lustre in Indian Politics.

Opposition parties are showing interest only on matters related to communal disturbances , pakistan issues or planning commission funds release. Opposition parties need the same BOOT as ruling parties when they are not doing their job properly. May be indians need to rethink on these opposition parties existence at all....

Comment on NREGA is directly on Sonai Gandhi itself as she is heading NAC with a cabinet rank . This clearly shows NAC recommended NREGA and DVC acts are purely for exploitation and give bread and butter for congress party supporters in police, judiciary and politics...

When the current opposition did very well when they were ruling the party, despite that they were voted out. So don't expect them to bail you out now. You reap the benefits of voting a sick secular govt.

People elect the one who represents the majority expectation. Opposition are voted out, as they didn't meet the majority expectation. If Opposition parties feel that they did better, why would people reject them?. Expecting people to remorse themselve and come back to opposition party is too much:). People may reject both opposition and ruling too. Do not underestimate people:)

If opposition parties think like you to bear for voting this government, there is also a chance for people to vote another opposition party as they already lost confidence on previous opposition party.:)

which world u r in? Our democracy is not based on performance alone. Its based on caste, religion, fund flow from foriegn countries, money distribution in election and Govts money distribution to its vote banks. Why did they waive loans to farmers? Why not to other labours who are poorer than farmers?Take reservation. They will gradually make progress till they rule for another 100 years.Shameless ppl.
