Government should address the infrastrucre first
by Pavan kumar on Aug 11, 2010 11:54 AM

1. Before loading the roads with cars, goverment should address the infrastructre first.
2. Already we are loaded with heavy traffic, No public transport in major of the main cities, rather than concentrating on that problem, Government is making the problem very critical by allowing such cars on the roads.
3. Politicians does not face aby problem with traffic jams, as the traffic is halted when they travel .. so they are not thinking of the problem ow traffic should not be halted when any VIP or VVIP is travelling.. then only they will think on the problem.
4. Ask the Major Infrastructure companies to build a Public tranport system which should be capable of serving atleast 30-40 years from now. I am sure many companies will come forward and do their best..
5. start building public transport system in tier 2 cities also.
6.PLEASE MAKE USE OF OUR TAXES FOR BETTER SOCIETY

Why we buy a car ?
by om shanti on Aug 10, 2010 08:57 PM  | Hide replies

Status symbol ? travelling convinience?
Well India is far behind,in small towns and villages of China,we can see Buick,BMW,Mercedez,Audi travelling through beautiful roads..in India, even in our cities in ugly roads,we find outdated cars like maruti, honda city,etc..what we need is massive infrastructure development, beautiful roads..only if there is good road,we can enjoy driving and purpose of buying a car will be fulfilled..

For example it takes 1 hour 30 minutes to travel 15 kelo meters in Kolkata..This is my recent experience of travelling from the airport to Park street.but in China one can travel 100-130 kelometers per hour...I had travelled 200 kelometers in one and half hours in China from a city to an airport, prior to reaching Kolkata..I am thinking what would have happened if my origin city was 200 kelometers from Kolkata,I would have had to come out of hotel 7 hours before the flight's departure...

Is it ego fulfillment ?

By buying Nano,is my ego gets satisfied.Infact no..I prove to the world that I am a lower income group person..every one makes fun of my status looking at my low cost box type car..then why not save some money in fuels riding a bike when my income is not enough to buy one better car?Do I need to add more chaos to already overpacked roads? Are we taking care of our family's safety while deciding to drive a unsafe car in a congested road?
We need strategic planning, aggressive steps to improve our roads where government should focus...

There seems to be some fundametal gap in the thoughts you mentioned.
1)Car is a travelling convenience. Full Stop. Anything beyond that is up to a persons imagination . One may feel like kind sitting in Merc or feel depressed sitting in Nano. Its in the mind.
2)Why not bikes? yes I am a fan of bike but not for a family of 3 or 4 person. So thats where Nano Scores
3)Not Safe? Yes not as safe as an SUV but much more than a bike any day. The target customer get more safety.
4)Why this concern abt roads and infra and environment only when there si talk about Nano. Why note other cars. I have a feel that nano is giving a complex to others. infact an ego booster that message to others that I am travelling same distance with comparable confort at reasonable cost. thats pinching others who paid a lot for not commuting but so called ego fulfilment.
5)15 kms if it takes 1 hr 30 mins in a nano it takes same time in a Merc or BMW also . it can go 0 to 100 kms in may be 4 seconds but after that has to follow the traffic :-)

Dude looks like you need a bais economics class...
We need some means of transport to commute from one place to other.
Public transport is the best way to commute but we do not have a good network and service of public transport.
So we need to depend on Bikes...
a family of 4 has to go on a scooter or bike....do you think its not risk to human life ?????
There are so many cars allready on the road..why don't you cry for that....
Are you an employee of a competitor of Tata ????
Are you being paid to write against Nano ????
Why are you taking name of Nano only why not other brands ???
If you are opposing industrialization....then you should be against Maruti, Hyundai, Mercedes..and all the brands...
why do people with high earnings have right to go in car where as others not...

Answers..
1.No,its not safe to load 4 persons in one bike,we need to put pressure, demand from our elected leaders to build a better transport system,a private company low cost car is not the solution to our government's incapabilities and inefficiencies,Nano cannot be a passport for escaping of the responsibilities by our government..
2.I am concerned about overcrowding unsafe Indian roads, and experienced of losing friends and relatives in road accidents..I have no favour for any particular car brand..
I am not from automobile industry..
Focusing on massive development of infrastructure itself suggests that in no way I am against industrialisation..infrastructure is the basic requirement for a good industry..I believe you would get thru my message..by the way,are you a Nano sales manager?

Well to be honest...I am pro india.
Any Indian company that is doing good will get my support.
TATA is such a name that gets my support.
Please do something to overcome youe problems...looks like you are one of those who only know to CRY for not having good roads, not having job, not having good housing, not having electricity etc..etc.
Tata is not one like you. He has come up with some solution that they thought.
If Govt provides better solutions people will use that.
If you have solution that give that...BUT STOP CRYING HERE in the name of NANO.
Polution was there before NANO and will be there after NANO.

Tata's Nano is an assault on the Indian motor bike industry, what is pro-indianness here when we see one big corporate house is ringing the ddeath bell for many Indian motorbike companies such as hero honda or bajaj? Will it not have a cascading effect on motor bike ancilliary industries or employees, mechanics, agents associated with the industry?Tata will market through its existing network, this means there will be shrinkage of employment opportunities, how can it be pro india?

Our main aim of making world free of polution and reducing carbon and a safe life is possible when we go for public transport like germany. There should be rule imposed by goverment that a person who take the car on the road has to pay more tax then automatically people will stop going by car. Then the next question is people will loose job engage these people by manufaturing bus tram etc and supplying to differen small city of whole india there are huge potential of this business. Also you collect tax around 10% from people each year for availing public transport any where in india then govt will have lot of fund to manage

This the social responsibility of all Indian company they should come forward and take steps govt is by us not by himself. Tata ,Brila,Amabni using resources ofindia and doing nothing they pay huge donation to ministers for getting project in india and use the natural resources of our country and paying less salary to people in india and saying that we are very competent and good managers give the salary like foreign compnay gives to his emplyoee then show the profit then i can accept tata is great company.

You may not be know in germany, US , the big company takes the responsibilty of society not only business.Thats why they are in top of world. they are coming to india bcoz the cost is less not that we are very talented.

When a person is poor when suddenly see the money he just behave crazy the same thing like india thats why these middle calss menatlity for car and etc is coming. If tata wouldnot have there any other company will be there its whole money. Dont think that these ppl are doing any favour by giving jobs if they dont do foreigner will do.

dude....the defination of middle class has changed.
CAR was a luxury at one time and used to be with Higher class only.
Then we saw upper middle class owning this car...and now middle class because of TATA. So AAM aadami is nothing but middle class only.
There are people with BPL. May be next genearion will see for sure in India where maximum of the BPL population will be shifted to middle class.

People who are saying that Nano is flop....may not want to buy Tajmahal..or should I say they can't but that doesn't mean that its not good.
they may not be eatinc PARLE-G but still it is the largest sold biscuid in India.
Whether they watch or do not watch...is not going to decide a movie to be hit or not.
Simillarly NANO is a hit..it is for a specific segment of customers...and a person may or may not be in that segmant...just like everybody is not in the segment of Bentley,Mercedes,LandRover,Jaguar etc....
This is business..run with mind and not on emotions.
Bottom line...Nano is a hit and hitted below the belt to its competitors.

Yes,there is still space left between rickshaw, cycle, bullock cart, honda city to pack up the Nano..no problem..
Whether we have road or not, every month new new Sedan, hatchback, low cost car, etc, etc are to be rolled out,so that India can move faster in jam packed roads..

Dude, Nano is boon for people living in small cities and towns. There they have very narrow lanes, and Nano is more maneuverable compared to any other car.

Even in metros cities its is a very big hectic for parking cars. Nano being a small car can be easily parked and requires lesser space compared to all other cars.

Further in metro cities like Delhi, it is very unsafe for girls to travel in night alone. And still many girls have to travel alone on two-wheelers as they can't afford a car. Nano is also a boon for them.

And its not just buying a car. You even have to maintain it. In this aspect also, Nano beats all other cars.

What for indians are proud for nano? I dont understand its generally tata exploit employee by paying less salary one of the lowest paid company india. By exploiting people and reducing saftey norms if you earn money then what kind of ethical compnay you are your intension has a question. There is no need to produce this car its worthless bcoz it gives competion among middle class that i own a car like earlier i own a scooter what tatas are going to prove infact its nothing great in designing this small car .I would appriciate tata if they would have designed a car which can run in water emmiting oxygen. This type of car can be designed by any car company its not great any indian company is design anything from own they copy it from either germany or italy or usa but here people has ethics they dont do things like that only for shake of earning money scarificing human values so i dont think there is nothing great about Nano
