I agree with the last part you mentioned. Unless you see any incentives in returning the old handset no one really care for it

There is no point in blaming one another. The Ministry of IT or Health or Environment should immediately set up centres for collection of discarded mobiles in each city.

I would pay money to get my phone recycled
by wizardo id on Aug 09, 2010 12:29 PM  | Hide replies

why are we not doing it ? we are a population dnse coutntry with less water, and landmass as we get more populated! we need to recycle batteries of ANY kind. we simply throw away the batteries now. it has to change, or else we pollute the same water that we drink. its common sense.

Mobile Company looters
by Rajan Sodankur on Aug 09, 2010 11:58 AM  | Hide replies

Many mobile companies are public looters; not onlt they keep changing models every few months but also engineer products such that the users would be frced to discard them after one or two years. The service centres have stcok replies "you better buy new ones, these are not repairable either because they are out of production or because spares are not available"; further they have under environmental friendly campaign cover has collection boxes for old mobiles for which they pay nothing but gain even out of the so called garbage cheating the customers.

I agree with the last part you mentioned. Unless you see any incentives in returning the old handset no one really care for it. Why do you think I would spend 15 minutes or spend few liter of petrol extra to go to a shop and give my mobile free of cost. It not limited to Mobile phones, you buy a 25K washing machine of any brand, if you sell you would not get more than 1k or 2 K discount on new washing machine. Dont you think a machine with lot of copper winding and few KGs of mettle cost only 2K?

Why mobile ?
by ganesh pillai on Aug 09, 2010 11:22 AM  | Hide replies

No use, we are free to discard garbage anywhere even in hospitals thats the mindset the general Indian population has.

We cry about diseases recurrence and falling ill easily when we do not even bother to clean our own surroundling living area. I have seen big houses but with waste all around.

No use flashing mobiles and wearing trendy clothes if you do not have civic sense.
