Call it Manu and not Adam....
by Cedric Vaz on Aug 17, 2010 09:28 AM

The computer and the tablet PC itself were both conceived and invented in the West, in the first place! What you guys are doing is just taking off from there to make the same stuff better and more cost effective than theirs. So if you ever want to say you are better than them, then come up with something no one on this planet has ever seen before. And by the way also make sure you manufacture 100% of your component parts here in India without relying on knocked down parts from China, Taiwan, Malaysia, etc. Also it would be nice if you could "indianise" the name of your tablet PC. As a suggestion the Indian equivalent of Adam is Manu.

tall claims

He says that the operating system will be open for all , which os is he talking about did he invent his own, at best this effort can be termed as an "assembly of disparate" parts, marwaris are only good at selling dal chawal they cannot be inventors or for that matter discoverers.

Before you say such a thing you should know that assembling even disparate set of equipment into a cohesive unit is not an easy task. Look at iPad and see inspite of billions of investment their product is just average in terms of feature. Notion Ink have also tweaked the original Android and made something that works for Notebook and then they are opening up that SDK for the developers. They have patents for the swivel camera which turns 180 degrees. Did you hear Microsoft killed their notebook Courier cause they could not conceive it in real!! So do something with your life other than criticizing others.

Apple is about the user experience and Apps
by xxx yyy on May 10, 2010 07:55 AM  | Hide replies

Don't forget that features alone don't sell a product, if it had been so MS Windows based tablets would have been a big success long ago. It is the user experience and the 200,000 Apps on the iPhone iPad that makes the iPad a success. How many Apps does this have? That would be the first question.

If there are import duties ADAM will be priced out
by kilikili on May 10, 2010 05:03 AM

That shows that significant components of the ADAM including the core i.e. processor is imported and assembled. Tinkering with the interface or adding additional interfaces is not in my books an Indian monopoly.

There is no way India or even the Europeans can compete with the MAC or PC , we can become cost effective assemblers though like China and Taiwan.

Credibility of my alma mater
by S Chatterji on May 09, 2010 11:16 PM  | Hide replies

This guy is from Mechanical Dept., a department having the biggest dumb of the earth as its HOD. Sorry Prof. Chattu. Your Jadavpur university education is just not the right thing for the dept.

As long as there are big khota sikkas like Prof. A K Mohanty (this bloke has to have some English lessons seriously) and Prof. S K Dash are there in that dept, it is going to rot and credibility is at stake for any claim.

This is big joke......
by Common Indian on May 09, 2010 09:03 PM

Every time there is new invention some of the IIT student come forward and claim that they have alternative invention. But nothing happens... Either IITians are int their own world or we as a nation are not able to support them. But I think that very very few IITians are worth of spending this countries money. They are always sold in the market in the name of IIT. Those who are among those very few are very much on the floor, and dont make waves like this... But believe me or not this country has very very big pool of talented people. Its not necessary to be in IIT. Lots of students coming from villages dont know about IITs.... Can our government provide any justice to them.

Because Indian government is not taking any kind of interest in developing semiconductors market in India and so we have to rely on china and Taiwan.
I along with some of friends are also trying to make a device not a tablet, but it's unique concept and same problem is with us either buy a new product and tear it to get the required part or simply get it import.
