"in India a family needs Rs.2 lakhs per month just to survive" where did you get this from? My family of 4 survives on Rs 35 thousand a month. No, we are not a BPL or APL family, we are an upper middle class family in a big city in india.

an upper middle class in a bug city in india with just 35K... ha ha ..wat a joke? I think you need to understand the meaning of upper middle class...35K is just normal in a big city in india...
even a Paan shop can earn 15K then how will you become 35K as Upper middle class...

You ever had any definition of what upper middle class is..? Anyone specified u any range for that ? Its just common usage. What is upper middle for me might be peanuts to someone like Ambani. Now u pls tell the the real meaning of upper middle class. And who told u that 35 k is normal in a big city in India ? Do u know that the 10k's or 15k's are even more common ? Do u know that even lots of people out there with less than 10k salary ? And they are not considered BPL family by the Govt..And just becos someone is doing paan business does not mean he can be called lower class, mind u. There r people who have made crores even in 'junk' business(kabaadiawalas).

2lac per month, six thousand each day,1500 per head can, unless on drugs no need of 2 lac for family 4.
growth in india is abysmally inclusive.. hardly permeates to the majority of the economic strata.. this uni directional growth of a miniscule 1% is meaningless.. growth has to include the poor, middle and rich respectively real growth is only when the poor can access or afford sanitation, water and education
It is sheer vishual delight to look at this news item.Indias service sector is on a roll, and going international, thanks to the profici ency in English of the educated middle class. But nearly 70% of population is scrounging it out on ground zero level. If this sore point is eliminated, then India is shining, otherwise the sheen is gone and everything is dull and dim.

there should be a law for indian organisations to setup at least 25% of their job creating facilities in rural... MNCs can be attracted by other benefits..
Maam, please do not convert $3000 a month to 1L. Any decent university grad earns atleast $4K a month. $3K at best is average and in no way a signal of india shining. be a journalist not a mindless reporter.

Dear Devavrata, That she is going for an internship has been noted. For short term internship $3000 is pretty average.

Devavrata
while what you have said (except the last line !) is correct, the title of the article is misleading. While a Rs. 1 lakh internship in India is certainly very good, when you mention it is $3000/month, the true perspective comes out. it is the normal internship stipend. Either the reporter does not understand the true import or she is deliberately creating a hype ! neither is good for her journalistic aspirations !
