As per proposed plan, GIFT supposed to start in 2010, which did happen, on 18th Jan 2010 officially the work on GIFT already started. At present Rs.150 crore barrage from Sabarmati River to GIFT is initiated and in next 18 months a road connecting GIFT (site) to Ahmedabad-G'nagar will start. I dont know why this type of malicious reporting is being done about the Projects taking shape in Gujarat. One can visit wikipedia page of GIFT as well as their website for the info about Phase wise work plan of GIFT. Despite of Global meltdown in real estate, Guj govt's program on GIFT is not behind schedule sofar. An article on TOI webpage of 18th January also sheds more light on this matter.
May be the project is effected by globle slow down.Gujarat has best lots of CAs & continues to produce best CAs as per the latest CA results which will play a supporting role apart from many other factors which fevours the project.
Due to the financial crisis of 2009 the project was halted and slowed down a bit however now things are moving fast and hopefully by 3rd quarter for 2010 we can see some good movements here
