Boss, You get 30KBPS(Bytes per second). TATA photon claims 3.1Mbps (Bits Per Second). So obviously you will get 3.1/8 Bytes per second.

Yes BSNL 3G is Rocking but they have 3G setup in selected cities in India (Mainly tier 1 Cities). They should start 3G facilities in Tier 2 and 3 cities from where they are getting their most of the revenue.
They say it is 3.2 MBPS but on the ground its actual speed is less than 300kbps, not even 1/10 of what they claim. Also these broadband stuff works only in very limited regions in india, only in the central zones of big cities. There are no unlimited plans and once you cross the limit they charge you 50 paise per MB, very high. These USB devices are so delicate that they crack in no time.
Best bet is to wait for 3G and use the same phone for mobile phone and connect to PC/laptop for internet.

I have taken one 3G connection from BSNL. The speed I get is only 460 kbps against the claim of 3.1 mb. When contacted, BSNL told me that mobile set should be capable of taking 3.1 mb speed otherwise the speed will only be 460 kbps.
