Many are holding negative impressions of such activities. Since Ranju Sarkar has brought to light Dharma's activities, keep a watch. If Dharma has brought benefits to more people, bring it up again and again so that their good work do not fall into the general category.

When B-School students make something rural....
by AtalBihariAdvani on Apr 11, 2010 12:00 AM  | Hide replies

Mostly they cheat rurals.....Either make products extremely expensive or those products get destructed in 2 years such that the rurals have to buy new products.....

Like the microfinance.....If they give Rs.100 to a villager, a villager is supposed to give back Rs.170 in a year.....70% interest rate.....their argument,"if we had not given them loan, nobody would have...." Then they give loans in front of all the villagers because they fully know if the villager given loan can not pay it back, he will commit suicide.....

Rurals are cheated....and the B-Schools teach this man-hunting strategies as "case studies"

Hi Atal
Such a statement as "Mostly they cheat rurals....." is a bit negative ,I think you should appreciate that there are entreprnuers that are making products for rural india ,that is the only way to improve the quality of life in rural India.

Hello Mr Rama
Appreciate your view. But Quality of the product & its long lasting is important, which such products often FAIL for. We had bought similar Solar Lanterns which hardly lasted for six months. Okay with me, or any salaried person, but what happens to a villager who spends 3 days of his daily wages amount (Rs 150/Day) for such product & has to discard it ??

Are you proud of your neighbor?
If not, entrepreneurs will not succeed in India.

You are right. The so called IIM graduates love to sit in an A.C. room and peddle M.N.C's products to the upper class and think no end of themselves.
