Although I do agree that our colleges are not so advance in their courses that they can provide quality HR to the industry nad they should work in this direction other wise obtaining degrees from such institutions is just a joke but at the same time it is very essential for employees to get trained to adopt work culture of the orgainizations which no institute can provide. If companies do provide such training to employees they do no favour to them but they serve their own perpose only as no IT firm teaches how to cook food they only teach what they require from employees.

boss there are so less numbers of IT univeristies in india.. except scit iit's n others .. who giv quality education in IT .. rest all educational plan of india is lik 1990's which is so old we need more diversified educational policies..
Companies hire employees to work and not to teach them. It is amazingly foolish that a company has to pay a candiate to learn at their cost and get attrition in return! The training must be provided at college level where students pay huge fee. Companies can at best help in improvement of skills and adaptation related to work. If colleges do not equip them to do work, what is the use of degrees and huge fee? It is a big loss for both candidates and the companies but students do not realise this fallacy and give in to sub standard education, it is simply a waste of man power. No amount of certifications and courses can teach someone how to work, it is best inculcated during college time only, especially for professional and technical courses. Companies should charge fee for training people how to work. There is a difference between degree and education, and job and work, especially when quality of both degree and job has gone to low level.

are you out of your mind? Every company invests in training their employees, not only at the junior level but at the higher most senior levels also.

Only in your company not in other companies i believe. Experience comes from self learning not by age or attending some certifications.

I agree since i am myself a trainer. I don't feel like teaching people the obvious things. They expect to be taught a lot of things which they should anyway know. Training should be done to enhance skills and it should be practical oriented.

Plz learn alphabets. You are already lost after "A-E".
Besides companies train there employees for earning more profit. They are businessmens,& not mere taxpayers.they take every step towards the single aim i.e. "PROFIT & MORE PROFIT". Corporate trainings are investment & not charity.

Look at it from the perspective of a desi IT service based company. Neither do they pay well nor do they provide technically challenging work (There can be exceptions but thats the case in general). So, naturally, Computer Science/IT grads from top colleges dont bother to join them. Hence they have to recruit graduates from Chemical/Civil/Mechanical/Architecture etc disciplines and since these graduates (most of them) have little exposure to programming, they cannot be absorbed in live projects without a training.

I wonder why the entire internal training cant be outsourced???? Why the tech majors have to openup their own large facilities when there are training companies who are willing to do so. I think it is always better to focus on your core areas than training dude....
