Global Information Technology Report 2008-2009 ranks India at 54
by Anumakonda JAGADEESH on Oct 09, 2009 05:16 PM

Denmark and Sweden once again lead the rankings of The Global Information Technology Report 2008-2009, released by the World Economic Forum. They are followed by the United States which is up one position, thus confirming its pre-eminence in networked readiness in the current times of economic slowdown. Singapore (4), Switzerland (5) and the other Nordic countries together with the Netherlands and Canada complete the top 10. The Report underlines that good education fundamentals and high levels of technological readiness and innovation are essential engines of growth needed to overcome the current economic crisis. Ireland gets a 23rd rank, the same level as in the 2007/2008 report. India ranks 54.

- Its known Indian human capital is most sought after in the world for IT

- Indian IT infrastructure is decent...telecom penetration is good(if you count absolute number of people with accesss and not percentage of population)

- India lacks a bit in R&D but if it talks of competetiveness of a country human capital should be top of the list of factors

Well, atleast IBM and Microsoft do a lot of junk work (speaking from a pure technical perspecive) in India. And IBM definitely pays peanuts.

All IT industries are run by so called world class IIT/IIM people, that's why there is no innovation.
For a few dollars more these companies will clean gutters of NY city.
Only money centeric, no innovation, no brains, not even a single IT product of repute till date.

ur a fool...Indian IT people are most brainy its just that they are scattered throughout the world and not channeled to make any specific product...that is the job of the Govt..it has to set up specific R&D initiatives so that products can be delivered from India...
