Gender equality is low meaning education is very poor also for womens in India.Illiterate people.Look at the rank in health and survival? Oh my God is the worst!This is not only women in politics but human as a whole.This is contradicting with what other Indians are claiming they are good compared to other nations. Hahahahah. The statistics speaks loud and is not a misleading statement! Its a FACT THAT INDIANS ARE ONE OF THE WORST! HAHAHAHAHA!
It is extremely misleading. Does this also take into consideration the single women and single men based on their age and marital status. Most men die before their wife, so their will be lot of widows in this number.
Another fact - If there is a women majority at top positions in industry, it will only cause chaos and mess. So its a nature's way to keep them away from top positions. This is especially true for India.

What you say about women is what is your opinion about your mother Mr. Dhananjay....it is the way you have been socialized. You must be aware that in nature also wanted more female children...the number of female fetuses across species is more than male...yet among human beings in India less females are born...

There are so many Indian women entrepreneurs. Successful women buisnessmen and politicians. India has female chief ministers, prime minister, president etc. How many female presidents in america ? Such surveys are a waste of time and should not be conducted in India. Indian women get the same opportunities as other women. However there are fewer jobs in india. More women will get employed as there are more jobs. A working woman marries a working man and they have a double income family - their neighbor may not have even a single income. If indian women started marrying non working men there would be more equitable distribution of wealth. The south indian states do better because there is more employement and development there. Economic development will reduce Gender Gap. The bottom line is we are a poor country.

You didn't get the point. The women in west will marry a plumber or a cab driver or even an unemployed. Its the true meaning of being equal and being empowered. But the Indian women who keep crying for equality, will not marry a person earning less than X amount, even if she is good for nothing. This mentality is pushing our society to a dangerous era. This must be rectified. Our media e.g. Times of India, is responsible for this mess.

we, our forefathers and foremothers have created this country where a woman is object to be stared upon when she leaves office after 7, we admire women who get scarred by rats and flys..we are happy to share that our daughters are obedient and they dont know anything about sex...suddenly we want effecient women to emerge from somewhere? most of the indian students in rural areas are not aware of names of their mothers...they have never heard their names...

We are not talking of one people my dear. We speak India as a majority and as whole not by 1 or 10 people in top positions.Meaning INDIA AS A GENERAL AND MAJORITY OF THE INDIANS MORE THAN HALF OF THE POPULATION OR EVEN MORE IS LOW QUALITY IN HEALTH,POLITICS,EDUCATION,SANITATION COMPARED TO OTHER NATIONS.You should accept that fact,its true and it will never change. Fact is fact! LOWEST CHEAPEST LABOR,QUALITY,EDUCATION AND EVEN IN HEALTH INDIA REMAINS AT THE BOTTOM EVEN SO MANY INDIAN CLAIMS THEY ARE THE BEST! nO ITS A PROPAGANDA BY OTHER INDIANS... THE TRUTH SPEAKS LOUD... INDIANS ARE LOWEST QUALITY IN THE WORLD.. CHEAP AS THEY SAY!

Its not by religion my dear, its all depending on the nature culture of the people and the only Asian country who is successful to this matter is Philippines which is remaining in the top 10 every year. Gender Equality is a measure how we treat both human beings.So in other Countries they never discriminate women and they give opportunities to ladies.Very sad for Indians, they have the lowest in the world. It mean the mother who is nurturing their kids are also very low quality people compared to other nations! hahahahah!
At the risk of sounding parochial or regionalistic, I msut say that the North Indian states are primarily responsible for this lopsided ranking. Has anyone seen the population growth rats and gender ratio in Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, UP, Bihar, etc. Maharashtra, Gujrat, Southern states, Bengal and the north east are far better in terms of gender equality, property rights, gender ratio. etc. There is a direct proportionate link betwen education & gender equality
