IOC, a central government public sector company, is closing its five out of eight depots on Orissa on the ground of safety being very old. The same could have been taken care with having the depots there itself. The concern of the local people that this will disturb the consumers convenience are genuine. Another aspect is when the marketers of consumables are trying to be closers to consumers as much as possible, in the IOC case this is seen different. Why so? Is there any thing cooking behind like supply to these areas may be shifted to other states depots thus providing work opportunities to transporters of other state besides taxes other states may earn at the cost of Orissa? In the past, several Orissa based projects or Orissa designated projects like IIT,Kharagpur,original planned to be set up in Bhubaneswar,IISER to Kolkata from Bhubaneswar,and very recently there is conspiracy to divert the World class railway platform project from Bhubaneswar to Vizag in Andra Pradesh, have been diverted to our neighbours on flimsy ground. If the IOC has plan to have only three depots at Jharsuguda, Jatni and Balasore what is wrong with having sub-depots at all other places. This is the practice IOC have for other states. When this is the fact why then there is deviation in case of Orissa?This should be strongly opposed till the IOC drop this attempt.IOC,which so far defered its Paradeep project for no justified reason for so long should desist from executing this plan comes what way.
