Nice move

this is nice to hear that a company cares for its employees instead of caring just for CEO and other top evecutives that do little to help the company. However, what I don't see here is what the CEO and his cronies will get. I bet they will get some very large number. This could just be a way to keep the employees quiet when the top brass get huge bonuses.

India needs stores like Walmart
by mallaiah anchoori on Mar 20, 2009 08:07 PM

It is really very nice & great of Walmart which announced such a sizeable amount of bonus to its employee at a time when there are wholesale lay offs in many of the private sector companies/organisations.From the beginning Walmart has been stealing the show of being a pioneer in the retail marketing to the great joy & relief of its customers & it is good that it continues to so even to its employees.Showing such a gesture by the world's second largest employer followed only Indian Railways is really commendable. Its popularity has become so iommense that it has become a part of American people's life. There is no place in USA where it has not made its entry.Equally popular & liked by bulk puchasers its ally Sams also. One would not feel the fatigue of shopping as long as he/she spends in Walmart which caters to almost all the consumer daily needs. It would have been really good if our business people too were to emulate such a culture of fair prices with 'return policy'too. It is not known as to what had happened to its plans of openig its outlets under the name "Bharathi Walmart" in partnership with some body else.We heard its having opened an out let somewhere in Banglore/New Delhi some time back, but what happenned to its spreading of further net work is a mystery. For the size of Indian population & the number of places of inhabitation, stores like Walmart are very much needed. However it is a million dollar question as to whether at all return policy suits to Indian mind set.
