A private pact can surely not override the soverign's prerogative. RIL is just a lessee of D6 block. Natural gas is a natural resource which belongs to the entire nation and no private party can claim its exclusivity on it.

It is the time that Govt. should now interfere. After having paid the project cost, Govt. should cancel the licence of RIL and both the Ambani brothers should not be given any opportunity to openly ransom the entire nation for thier personal gain.

we all know that our's is energy starve nation and a sizable chunk of our import bills goes to the petrolem & petroelum products. Gas is required everywhere, from steel to fertilizer to heavy industries and including the power sector.

As Mr. Anil Ambani cannot create a third party interest( ie. he cant sell it to other party), he is left only one option i.e. to consume the entire 28 mmscmd (its a very large quantity) of gas in his mega power plants.

We need to understand that Mr. Anil Ambani intends to take gas at only half the price govt. has fixed but its for sure that he wont pass the benefits to the end consumers in terms of electricity tariff.

On the other hand look at the observation made by Bombay High Court wherein it has stated even at half the price of govt. apporved price Mr. Mukesh Ambani is making profit. It is very much understandble that the only objective of fixing the gas price at $ 4.20 was to give direct benefits to Mr. Mukesh Ambani to maximize the his wealth.??!!!!
