The textile industry, especially the handloom sector needs good attention. Employment opportunities should be rewarded with reasonable salaries and rewards, and sufficient encouragement should be made to purchase handloom goods. Apart from this the subsidies reimbursed to the weaving industry should reach it directly without intervention by any intermediary agency. Weavers should be getting financial assistance from all nationalised banks without much hassles. Certainly Maran can achieve this.
dont want to sound pessimist, but you report to Karuna, who works for his family.will he allow you to do your own work without getting kicks for his sons and daughters. If you can re develop Thirupur in your first year, I should be able to beleive you.

I can believe him as he done lot when he was leading the telecom ministry. Tirupur will get a good shape i believe...
WE INDIANS WILL BE PROUD OF YOU WHEN YOU MEET YOUR COMMITTED NUMBER OF 1 CRORE EMPLOYMENT.ATLEAST RAT POISON CAN BE RULED OUT AND TEXTILE SECTOR WILL BREATH GOOD AIR!!! IT IS NOT DMK OR ADMK , CONGRESS OR BJP IT IS TOWARDS PEOPLE OF INDIA TO WHOM YOU COMMIT SIR!!! CERTAINLY PEOPLE WILL NEVER FORGET IF YOU HELP THEM
I am taking this statement with loads of pinch of salts. Any modern textile mill employs not more than 5000 employee per unit. So 1 cr / 5000 is 2000 units. Mr Maran do you have the infrastructure or or your lethargic bureaucracy can handle to set up so much large no of units. If you become successful in achieving it it will be great milestone for any ministry.
Mr.Maran is capable. Hope he fulfills this promise.Other Ministries also should create enough jobs. This would help beat the recession and India setting an example in overcoming the hard times. Why talk of job cuts;find ways of creating employment. Govt should help in giving concessions for employment creation.
In times when politicians talk of eradicating poverty and working on upliftment, Maran comes across as one with some numbers ! That is a good start ! His previous tenure has seen lots of developments in the IT and telecom domains...another brownie point !
However, what plans he makes to get going towards achieving this 1.55 lakh crores and 1 crore jobs remains to be seen and introspected.
As we are used to doing since independence, we are hopeful and will wait and watch !
