There so much hype for the Cloud Computing.I dont understand whats the difference between SaaS and Cloud Computing. From first view, both looks the same. As Cloud computing is a style of computing in which dynamically scalable and often virtualized resources are provided as a service over the Internet.Users need not have knowledge of, expertise in, or control over the technology infrastructure in the "cloud" that supports them. Its very much similar to the SaaS concept. The Indian company starts shouting as and when they hear a new Term. But they dont have the patience to invest and wait to get and understand the new Technology. They starts the R&D on new technology with the staffs who are NON-BILLABLE and waiting for soome project. Also, they make only the PPTs and Word Doc related to the new Technology. They will only describe the HYPE Concept but none is there to guide ..How to be implemented. The SaaS concept is one of the example. Many company started on SaaS but i dont think any one is in a position to get a cash using the SaaS.So the same fate will happe with Cloud Computing.
The Cloud Computing is one stage above the SaaS!!!

Simply put it is the locker service available from banks. You either save ur valuables in your house in a safe place or put it in the vault. As simple as that. You are right - our desi companies thrive on hype and jargon - hear a term and start jumping about it without even exploring how it can be implemented of even if a market for it exists/ can be created in the next three odd years.
But going by the election nonsense of EVM tampering and Indian mentality about data stealing, lets see how many TRUST cloud computing.

I agree with you .Cloud is not going to stay in the way it is being put forward , ie in enterprise segment.Another hype or bubble being created by companies to mint dollars
The big names stated here only can do some basic services (such as development / maintenance / IT operations) around cloud platform. Cloud provisioning is the key and companies like aws.amazon.com is making money there. In india, infrastructure is limited to host / provision a cloud environment. And cloud is all about hype. The technology existed even as early as year 2000, its just that it was never packaged and hyped the way it is currently. Cloud is not for a monsoon-dry india
