low quality outsourcing
by Geo on Jan 22, 2009 03:41 AM

"outsourcing, which is more helpful to the US firms than businesses in India."

But not the American people. A few firms and few executives may make some money but at the cost of losses to American people, innovation and high quality.

Obama answers to America and its people not to some buffons who run Indian low end IT labor shops.

Obama is the President of the US, not India
by Rajniisclever on Jan 22, 2009 03:07 AM

BHO will do what is necessary to revive the American economy. In the course of it, some scraps will be thrown at India. Eat them and be satisfied with it.

We have lot of home work to do within the county first. Rather than having a begging bowl in front of USA and Obama , our business leaders and Politicians should see how they can grow their business by developing a business model where the consumers are Indians and use Indian resources and man-power and ideas to develop the businesses. Some of them are IT for schools, Banks, Village records,Land records,Govt Departments, Nuclear power plants with our ow technology ,Make everything electronic, ID cards.Build roads, high speed trains, water systems, Alternate energry sources,Internal security and bodrder control Standardise education throughout the country and make it the best in the world.

Hello, My friend! India is an export dependent economy which improved thanks to substantial depreciation of rupee in the early 90s. Take this out and the so called indigenous companies will all suffer. So exports is a must to influence development all around. Unfortunately, a greater chunk of our exports are to US. India is yet to tap into Europe and other emerging markets.

I agree, that we are export dependent now.But what if Obama and maybe Europe also decides to stop outsourcing to protect local jobs? We should be ready for that and develop economy locally without fully depending on exports alone for growth.

Seeking access to dual-use technologies at par with G-8 is a laudable objective. Senator McCain had already committed himself to this last year. Hence positive outcome is most likely. It is not clear what India has to offer to make it a fair exchange.

The least which needs to be done is identify a set of criteria by which Indian market economy can be benchmarked vis-a-vis G-8 nations. And demonstrate over next 1-2 years that policy changes effected impact the measured indexes and progress them within the striking range.

Obama is in favour of outsourcing and against out-tasking to Indi
by Article comments on Jan 22, 2009 02:13 AM  | Hide replies

The Indian media has time and again expressed its ignorance of terms. What Indian firms do is out-tasking except possibly for TCS, i.e., Indian IT firms take away jobs performed in the local economy and hand it over to somebody in a 3rd world country or emerging market. Outsourcing is about transferring the jobs and therefore people to another company and take it back as Services. Obama having an MBA from one of the fantastic management institutes and in response to Indian media questions has persistently clarified that he is in favour of outsourcing. Some maturity expected from Indian IT firms and more so, Indian media.

Oh! When Assets and facilities are outsourced, the customer would get a one-off cash injection, which is precious in these credit-crunch times. Credit is not likely to flow down to businesses in western markets until June. This is an innovative way to credit. Of course, the service provider would recover the money back based on their cost of capital and internal rate of interest. Which is why Obama is in favour of Outsourcing. Offshoring needs one-off investments and for that the company must have huge source of capital especially for the redundancy costs.

shifting outsourcing to Other underdeveloped nations such as in african continents. It will improve thier living standards and it will be more cost effective regards to US. Also, africa is english speaking and they grasp new information quickly. Hence, IT, FInance, Call Centers hub can be set up there also.
