Especially if you browse in your company time, it is possible for the employer to use that record (yes they know how much browsing you did) and prove that you have been fired for not being productive.. That can certainly cut down any severance package.
I am not sure if this has passed the Editor's desk! I assume that the target audience of Rediff is INDIAN consumers. Looks like this article was plain picked off some US media without considering the relevance to the Indian audience. While the subject itself is of high relevance, the content means nothing to an Indian employed in India....

Ali, To assume, that an Indian website is only read by Indians is totally absurd. Rediff is owned by 'INDIA ABROAD' which is infact registered in US. It deals with issues related to India as well as Indians in US.

Agree with you that this article is intended for us audiences. An excellent one at that.
However, indians living in usa would benefit from this. So no harm in rediff publishing an article meant for indians working in usa. They could have perhaps identified that at the top of the article.
