Obama no visionary
by wellwisher on Mar 01, 2009 01:04 AM  | Hide replies

After the initial euphoria in the after match of the presidential victory, Obama has at long last clarified his political agenda.
First, he has moved closer to the Muslim world by announcing a multi-billion dollar aid package for Pak, and a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq.
Second, Clinton has singled out China as the single most important geopolitical ally and even started bashing India.
Clearly, Obama foresees a de facto partnership with the Chinese where the mandarins move into the political vacuum vacated by the US. Next, the Chinese could well want to take over Taiwan and hegemonize Japan, and so forth. India would have no choice but to align itself more closely to Russia.
This reversion back to the traditional epicenter of the Democratic Party philosophy
shows that Obama has no new vision at all and has yet to grasp the lessons of the cold war.
It is time that India put its own house in order instead to catering over to US sensitivities.

what our center is telling us: eat less and travel less?

we don't install pm's-ministers who deliberately starve our children, by shooting up prices

nation-wide,
that the average indian is working ONLY SO THAT HE CAN FEED HIS FAMILY.

we don't need your advice.

you were put at the center:
- to create progress,
- to stop terrorists,
- to develop our culture,
- to make our country strong.

since you have been doing exactly the opposite,
we are in grave danger today,
as a nation...

hundreds of millions of our people are barely eating one square meal a day...

next: do we eat grass??

how can u force someone to consume more
by NIRJHAR MAJUMDAR on Mar 01, 2009 12:02 AM

While there are measures through which u can force someone to save, how can u force a country to consume more ? And that too in a globally recessionary situation ? China is really in some pressure. After all, they owe much of their prosperity to US. India has a lot of scope to grow.It is not as much dependent on US for its growth as China is.India should grow. It has the highest proportion of young population in the world.US is aged.China is ageing.

BOLD STEP
by habib jamrose on Feb 28, 2009 10:15 PM  | Hide replies

India is an industrial giant and super power in the region. If India takes a bold step and make a council or union of the Sub-continent countries, by all means the region will emerge as a power. The markets of the regional countries are very vulnerable for Indian products. Apart from this India will get a land corridor to Central Asian Countries, and upto Thailand in the East. By this cooperation Sub-continent may become the world's strongest economic zone.

congress
by chintan jhunjhunwala on Feb 28, 2009 10:01 PM

the congress culture is one of slavish culture that is why for years india was dependent on imf andworld bank aids.instead of working on its strengths and the wisdom of its age old tradition of trading we whole heartedly embraced the western way of trading with its weaknesses instead of working on its good points .india is not an export dpendent country but most of its energ needs are imported.solar energy, wind energy ,bio fuels technology should be fine tuned and scientifically researched to suit indian needs and replace fosil fuels which wil reduce dependence on energy related imports.

a tie?
by Lal on Feb 28, 2009 09:29 PM

Now we are tied? First we are second and then one time we were first and now we are tied. How cares. Just do your job and that is all, what difference does it make who is first or second or whatever? Besides, we have a mountain of a problem with a huge number of people below poverty line.

Of global crisis & India's ties with US, China..LOL!
by vinay thakur on Feb 28, 2009 09:27 PM

This is joke of the millenium...New Obama administration clearly neglected India..thanks to weak Forign policy and more than needed bent of UPA towards USA in past few years..but Indian Govt still talking about US-China..India!Rather than looking aggressively to take greater share in changing world equations...Indian UPA always looking towards USA as its master..also for small matters! This Govt is weakest ever in strong internal & external policy making!

I enjoy Mr. Shyam's speech.
by Rajkumar Reghunathan on Feb 28, 2009 09:19 PM

I had an opportunity to listen to Mr. Shyam at a gathering on foreign affairs in Trivandrum. It was a rare event to listen to a beautiful speech, articulate and to the point. I did not get an opportunity to congratulate him on that occasion and I am taking this.
