mumbai real estate
by raja on Feb 10, 2009 01:16 PM

in most of the cities, the above figures are applicable for apartments and houses.in mumbai if you have to own a house, the smallest will be 100 crores.now, the apartments.high price apartments made in last 5 years, minimum space availability is 3000 sq.ft.
illegal construction methods are common on all bldgs.permission for 800 sq.ft,they make 3200 sq.ft and sell it as 4 registrations.amchi mumbai is a very funny place

Mumbai Prices - Shameful
by Argumentative Indian on Feb 10, 2009 01:02 PM  | Hide replies

It is a matter of great shame that Mumbai's real estate prices are close to those of New York, when the average income is nowhere close.

The common public must refrain from buying houses for as long as possible and break the back of this real estate mafia.
It is important to bring a change in the government also, I wonder if the situation was so bad in the NDA era.

Any comments?

Yes u r correct to some extent, look i am living in Dubai and i pay close to rupees one lakh for a month rent but i enjoy a good facility and a clean and nice environment whereas in Mumbai,no disrespect,as i am also an indian,is full of shit and garbage.its rent prices seem to be artificial and is regulated by speculators, india have 54 billionaires but it has huge numbers of poors also,so we can see the growth of our economy as a capitalist one.

but atleast you get all the services. Rather than saying cost you may want to say about % of your salary being paid as rent. If you say rent then compare furnishing also. I am paying close to Rs 35K for 2BHK in the UK and same will cost similar rent in big city in india. Evenif after paying equal amount, I will have to buy water or wait near water tap to collect enough amount of water for day! Is this what you want after paying high rent?

Poor country high prices
by kenneth gonsalves on Feb 10, 2009 12:58 PM

Should we not be feeling ashamed that the cost of one square foot of living space is almost as much as the per capita income in our country. I am deeply distressed.

You are right. Sample set is skewed. It ranges from 3000 to a lakh. And average if taken of all homes would nowhere be close to this.
