It will really make a good impact as Indian professors will get exposure to the type of students and knowledge area. Hope they implement ideas they learn in Indian Educational institutes.

Bane & Boon

This would mean two sides of the same coin. One is professors in US would devote their valuable time to perform constructive work like research, development, developing new concepts, whereas our professors would be evaluating the papers presented by students. But on the flip side there is good possibility of our professors to enhance their knowledge and earning capacity.

We just can not depend on Outsourcing for ever, value proposition which today seems attaractive will not be the same in future, It mainly depends on how much we learn n earn and how we infuse learnings to develop new things & invest on R&D because thats where we can lead & make others follow us. We start to Aspair a world where India Leads and world follows. If India Today is Worlds back office It takes a lot more to make world India's back office. Lets make our move in that direction

Great idea
by colomboycoy on Dec 11, 2009 08:47 AM  | Hide replies

This is a wonderful idea and my university recently started talking about this too. I am a professor in Colombo and have no time to grade. My department is currently evaluating this option of sending the papers to be graded in India. In terms of distance, it is cheap for us because sometimes the students hand in hard copy and we can mail it to India in quick time. We are especially hoping to get ISB professors to grade because the standards will be higher than getting some back of the road college professor. The company we deal with has to be reputable.

1 indian Rupee is around 3 Sri lankan rupees...that says it all..
Must be very expensive proposition to look at ISBs..
Would suggest look at Lankan equivalent countries like Nigeria, Kenya, Bhutan, Pakistan etc

outsourcing income
by sarabjeet ahluwalia on Dec 11, 2009 08:45 AM

Yes, it should be encourged in India. As UGC recommending for the consultancy projects in the new guidelines, out sourcing income from such technical assignement is an positive one to increase the monthly income and it could be shared with the parent institute as consultancy projects. Again these types of assignements are limited to technical and professional teachers only.

Valuation Income

This has to be encouraged. In fact the finance ministry should consider tax rebates for such income. The rationale behind this is 1) Teachers and profeesos are "professionals" who are grossly underpaid.2) Valuable foregin exchange reserves are being repatriated into the country.

it is not good to devote time for extra money when u r earning ur bread and butter with some institution, r u not betraying ur institute by not giving ur full time to institution where u r currently working. That is the main tragedy with india when person is having job and extra income source and other side one struggle for a sngle normal job.
