India's population growth is quite high. In such a scenario, growth in economy has to be there.Even if we have good growth the poverty will not diminish. Talk about reduction of population growth, then only living standard of citizen will improve. Some of the western nations such as Germany, Sweden, Norway etc.,have very less or nil population growth, even then they manage to grow their economy in normal condition.

Population reduction will not improve growth by itself, growth will improve if we improve productivity of the average Indian, encourage innovation, increase FDI in employment generating industries etc. And higher growth automatically leads to lesser population growth as has been the case in all countries.

That is an old theory. Per new theory in a credit based economy population actually result in a growth in economy. More money is lended, more people to get loan, more consumerism, and more products will be sold in the market.

india is growing because of low base effect. Growing from around thousand dollars per capita is easier than growing from thirty thousand dollar per capita. It is not magical, it is expected.
