In China engg. institutions are called polytechnics, they able to build their own fighters, own weapons, in fact China will soon roll out 5th Gen Aircraft. Waht have IITs contributed (other than hype??). Infosys is co. of 1000s of IITians yet they are not able to design a s/w that is acceptable to the world, Infosys has no products, they just do body shopping and earn by the virtue of foreign exchange.

They should not be called China Eng.. Institution. They should be called university of chinese in United States, famous for cheating and stealing from other countries. Comment on IIT-big waste!! by mr. Srinivas: Enroll in Chinese polytechnique istitute and get a degree from there. I hope you are not really chinese.
From absolute negiligence from Govt., IITs came out as finest over the years and that is because IIT was able to maintain dedicated faculty and students. Faculty itself is nothing for innovation. Look at the mareket reality in western countries. You can't clap in one hand.
IIT has been a teaching institution anyway, only over the last 10 years its focus has been shifted to research. The students those who graduated are of course paying back in this difficult time. Do you think people with CALTECH and MIT PhD degrees, will go waste for 30,000Rs a month? You should be proud that they are back to the country for the better of the country. Where is the govt. incentive??
If you have guts go and work for foreign companies anyway. But you any look like a dumb ABC software engineer.

Dude, Please show technology that is visible in India that is from IIT ? Tell me few break-through technologies contributed by IITs to India/world? It's bad to compare with chinese, they have technology to come out with 5th Gen fighter aircraft, where is India, LCA with American Engine still doing tests, what is contribution of IITs/IISc ?
What is the contribution of IITs in Nano (big Zero) what is the conribution of IIT in 2W technology : ZERO, Bajaj TVS still get fascinated by Japanese technolofy, they continue to copy, imitate Japanese technology. DRDO is full of III class IITians, so no achievements, all missles from Russia. Chandrayaan technology from John Hopkins University not Indian. It failed within 4 days !! But so called scientists were busy lecturing innocent school kids about so called 'achievements', shameless creatures. Can India manufacture design a 100cc bike from scartch ? Can IITians do it ? Can IIT faculty contribute anything ? They may come up with helmet locker (maximum).
Please quantify IIT's achievements and see the truth ?

It's a huge fraud, they visit foreign countries in the guise of visiting professor, they fabricate documents but end up working for big firms on short contract basis, they make huge money and come back. Same the case with IIM.
What did IIT and IIM do in times of reccession, both are breeding people for job hunting, they lack innovation, IITs have done nothing to technology, none of mobile phone technology is Indian, none of bikes/scooters technology is Indian. Instead of paying the hike it could be directed to poverty irradication. Why are IIT faculty comparing themselves with big institutes of the world? They cannot even compare themselves with Chinese polytechnics which are helping China with their own technology. IITs is making India beg technology from abroad, Pokhran is flop, Chandrayaan is flop, Agni/Prithvi are Russian imports !! IIT faculty deserve 1/2 the pay of chinese polytechnic lectureres.

You yourself told the answer. If IITians are nuts then they would not have earned huge salary from foreign companies and universities. Do you expected the IIT faculties to work for nuts? Grapes are always sour. You must be one of those millions who are kicked out in JEE.

all the prof getting less salary and they can go easily in soft ware companies as a trainer for 2-3 lac per month..atleast govt is to pay a decent salary to them...
Instead of hiking slaries IIT profs, let the government increase the salary of Jawan who guard our borders risking their lives, trying to stop inflitration of terrorists from Pakistan. They should be paid a minimum of Rs.2.0 lakh per month. Govt. must give priority to this.
I am an Alumni of IIT Madras. I know there are brilliant brains in IIT. But there are useles craps also. Before implementing payhike they should boot these wastes out.
Banks in India are giving only 16% of their loans to Agriculture sector where 70% Indians are living. Somebody in India can file a Public Interest Litigation or move a Private Bill in Parliament to fix this anomaly. And Govt must give monthly salary to all Farmers and Agricultural Workers because they are producing Food Grains for rest of the Indians.

Chandrayaan is big flop, it stopped working on day-4 of launch. This inspite of 99.99 percent import technology and 100% rubbish talking by so called great scientists. I think municipality workers who clean roads are worth more than ISRO scientists. They keep roads clean, ISRO scientists are begging for lights and cameras w/o doing anything.

So, according to me not only these IIT prof. but, scientists, cops, military men, etc., also deserves better package.
by media, 6th pay commission was highlighted as big things...like big burden on India etc.,..I ask one thing, if salary is so high then why there is no rush for joining such department. Still 6th pay commission will have 0.3% burden on GDP.
