Even today when I read this story, on top, it shows "last updated on: December 24,1999".
Phaneesh was not with iGate in 1999 and I am sure he would not have made this "prediction" os Indian becoming an economic superpower in 1999 itself, when he was part of Infosys.
Direction comes from the top! When people at the top are directionless and corrupt, the whole country suffers.
With a corrupt congress govt being ruled by xtian spies, India is suffering badly. Our growth rate should be twice that of china. We are a democracy and our people are better educated. We have so many advantages over china. Its a shame that we are lagging behind a communist country!
India needs to market its open market credentials more and we need charismatic leaders who can become ambassadors of brand India! Leaders like mms dont impress people.
There is no doubt that India will become a superpower. We can become a superpower quciker if we have right people directing us. That will make a difference whether India becomes a superpower in our generation or whether it becomes a superpower after we are gone.
A request to rediff editor to remove this stale article, the crux of which might very well qualify for "Joke of the day".. Btw, coming from a person with such an inglorious reputation as Phaneesh, his views on a subject he has no hold on and of course the erratic conclusion; it is seriously boring.. Please get something fresh and new from the world of business for your readers and not this scum
Phaneesh Murthy is right 8% - 9% growth in next 10 years will help India to reduce poverty and become a economic powerhouse. India is able to achieve 7%-9% GDP growth from last 18 years and to To maintain 9% GDP growth for next 10 years is also not a big deal. India is already a world leader in BPO, KPO, software export and emerging very fast as major R&D center of the world.
