I doubt this article. I am in germany and know that a decent house in a good neighbourhood (well almost everyplace in germany is good, since the security level in germany is one of the highest.I have seen drunk 17yr old girls lying in railway station at 12 in the night, with a police at gaurd during the festive season.).The cost of a house is 120000euros. That is 80 lac rs. Such a house in this conjested place like mumbai with traffic jam and very low saftey conditions cost more than 1 crore rs. All this written in this article is bulshi.t.

I've just seen the discussion board, and having accepted that the world's richest and the most expensive cities are in the west.
How many of these Europeans or north American (Incl. Canada) have salaries ranging between 20,000 per month??

Now you guys would say 20,000 what? Ruppees, USD, CAD, EUROS, or what...
Let me explain, an average Indian household earns atleast 20 to 25K a month.

considering that factor of income I'd say an average Indian is richer than an American who lives in tents when the bank asks him to pay up for his home.

how many of our Indians have actually left their home in recession and moved into tents??

How many of our Indians have actually sold their cars, kids PS3s, live on food vouchers or coupons???

See India may have a high rate of inflation, but that doesn't mean that we are in the dumps. No!!

Why are all our idiot politicians only thinking about I.T as an industry for growth?? It's not the only thing that exists in the world..

Basic economics do exist, in the US and UK (personal experience) a public accountant (also known as a Chartered Account in India) earns the same wage as an IT specialist.

It's only that people think IT is our way out of this.. I don't think so.

everyone thinks India and Indians are poor but where??? We haven't brought tents and left our kids in the care homes. Our disabled or physically challenged elders live with us not on the govt support. Are we poor.

Have you walked around our slums sir? Have you seen a 6 year old girl doing hard labor on the streets to make the road that your mercedes car will drive on? Are you happy with that? Stop compring and stop putting others down. We've got a lot of problems of ourselves. I cry each time I am in india and I see a little girl picking up discarded food from the road to feed herself. I wish I could help but am helpless to do so but I donate to schools in the hope that talented people will reshape india.

You are a doctor and probably never look down to see these people since this is probably beneath you.

are our people not living in slums ? Rural houses are any better ? what is salary level per day Rs.100 or even less ? 70% of population live below poverty line. is it the same level in US ? what is this theory that we are richer ? How are you comparing GdP of 1 trillion against 15?

IT SERVICES (LOW END) IS A DYING INDUSTRY
by vinod kumar on Aug 31, 2009 01:12 AM  | Hide replies

IN 5 YEARS 70-80% OF IT PROGRAMMERS AND ADMINS WILL LOSE THEIR JOBS AS COMPANIES MOVE TOWARDS SAAS APPLICATIONS AND EMBRACE SOFTWARE AS A SERVICE CONCEPT. THE INDUSTRIALIZATION OF IT IS WELL UNDERWAY AND ONLY PROCESS/TECHNOLOGY ARCHITECTS WILL BE NEEDED BY COMPANIES. ONLY LARGE SOFTWARE COMPANIES WILL NEED HEAVY DUTY PROGRAMMING.

As the USA and Europian market is recovering it would give boom to Indian IT industry. Basically there was/is no recession in India as comparted to world. India experienced recession due to rumor and fear. Therefore IT industry recover soon especially because of good western market condition.

What do you mean by recovery. when joblosses haven't stopped and the western govts are resorting to huge borrow and spend as well as quantitative easing. What if recovery leads to disorderly devaluation of dollars and pounds. It will be tantamount to "Operation success but the patient died" quote.
Unless and until our I.T. industries stop the addiction to cheap wage cost arbitration model and concentrate more on world class products any recovery will be temporary. Otherwise I wish them a happy and prosperous future. No complaints.

Funny you. The boom of Indian IT economy since late 90s was this cheap wage cost arbitration model not shrink wrapped product models.

IT DEFINITELY IS THE FUTURE
by swatantra bargoti on Aug 16, 2009 01:06 PM

IN TIMES WHEN ALMOST EVERY AREA OF LIFE IS GETTING IT ORIENTED - BE IT LIFE SCIENCES, SPACE RESEARCH, AUTOMOBILES IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS INDUSTRY WILL NOT SURVIVE AND GROW. I PERSONALLY BELIEVE THAT THE INDUSTRY HAS GOT HUGE APPLICATION AND POTENTIAL IN THE TIMES TO COME. BUT DEFINITELY THERE WILL BE HICCUPS EVEN IN FUTURE. THE GROWTH MIGHT NOT BE SEAMLESS BUT DEFINITELY IT WILL ALWAYS BE GROSSLY POSITIVE.

Suggestions for IT
by Purushottam Abuj on Aug 16, 2009 10:24 AM  | Hide replies

Well I would like to suggest some new Ideas to the computer companies.
I am sure these advancements will take them to a new high!! (From where they can easily jump)

Please don’t think seriously and/or logically on it, otherwise you will end up having advanced delusionary schizophrenia with involuntary narcissistic rage.

1.      Data restoration: When you know that some data was there on your machine 10 days back, just change the system date to earlier (10 days back) and you should get the data.

2.      Advanced Data Transfer System: When you know that there is some data on one particular machine anywhere on the earth, just ask for the IP address and change your IP address to it. You should then have all that data.

Please don’t think seriously and/or logically on it, otherwise you will end up having advanced delusionary schizophrenia with involuntary narcissistic rage.

Interesting! It may not be possible to achieve your suggestions literally, but maybe if someone thinks creatively about it, then we can have useful variations of them. After all, the alchemists of many thousands of years ago spent their lives unsuccessfully trying to turn baser metals into gold. It was only in the 20th century that particle physicists managed to turn atoms of one element into atoms of another element, by manipulating their atomic structure. Though the original quest never succeeded, we have worked out a variation. And what's more, we have learnt a great lot about the structure of matter in the process. Your ideas might have a seed of something great, who knows!

Selling Software != Selling Consulting

Indian IT Companies sell Consulting aka Collude.
