There is no need to make a headline for such news at rediff. Do you know that 'N' number of CEOs have been sacked worldwide in the current market turmoil. And Pandit's appointment was neither a result of any political deal nor he was made CEO bcz he is India Born.... Has be made any significant contribution to the country. Or if he is replaced then he would be in any trouble as such..... no need to make it headline and write a full article about it....Huhh...lol.

As Indians, aren't we supposed to feel good if an Indian shines and likewise, feel a bit sad if an Indian is involved in anything negative? I'm sure it's ok to feel good about the success of Indra Nooyi (Pepsi) or Sanjay Jha (Motorola) or Ajit Jain (Berkshire Hathaway) in a global playing field. I would think the opposite is also true then. Hope you agree.

lowly thought from a rss lad, being hindu is not a qualification but the credentials matters. Pandit got selected not because there is no american capable to head citi, but indians are born peanut counters and always do dirty jobs like sacking mercilessly. may be thats the reason an indian is selected. But why this rss goons all around the net spreading hate messages in peace time?
Any common man with a little bit of sense will not believe, the current quarterly results of the financial institutions. The economy is still bad, people are foreclosing homes and declaring bankrupt. How did these institution made a sudden profit. There profit comes from the recent change in law of valuation of thier assets. They are still fooling the world. I am not buying their false statements.
Every one is beginning to believe that some how we all can get out this financial mess. It is not going to be easy, it is a long way for recovery. I strongly beleive that some day US Govt will take over these banks. These banks cannot sustain with their huge losses and sheer size. They must be brought down, cleansed and start fresh.

yes of course...within a short period and profit of $1.6bn, almost 1/3 of last year loss in first quarter...!!!!!may be fooling around or doctored documentation like satyam may be
Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat."
professionalism brought him to the fore. if the same and circumstances need him to relinquish, it is ok. nothing to complain. we should appreciate the US for it's ability to choose non US citizen to head it's premier financial institution at the time of distress. here in india, many a business corporation do not scout beyond the community of the controlling share holders.

Bharat, Bobby Jindal converted to fulfill his political ambition; no one aksed him to. Obama was born to a Muslim father - who gave birth to him and left Obama & the mother to return to Kenya - and Christian mother. The mother and her parents raised Obama and took care of him all his life. Is it wrong that they decided him to be of their Religion i.e. Christianity? It is the broad mindedness of the American people that inspite of being from the minority community (black) and with a middle name as Hussain, people elected him as President. May be kind of like our dear own APJ Abdul Kalam - the only difference being in our case it was a political move which turned out to be great.
Raman, So far as Indian companies not allowing 'others' to run the show, remember one Sonia Gandhi? She runs the country, not just a company - a woman who has a dual citizenship (only 50% Indian!!), obtained an Indian passport only 10 years back when she decided to join politics, and yet rules the country with 0 credentials on anything. People say she has lots of black money stashed away in switzerland, Italy and whereever else and that's her claim to power. She did pick-up Hindi pretty fast, I have to give her that. and oh, she also picked up Rajeev - the son of the all powerful Indira Gandhi, the then PM of India. Well done..err.. Antonia - Sonia is a false name created for acceptance by Indian public.

Why bring religion into everything? Are we so preoccupied with religion? I worked with Americans for few years and beleive me none of them had any religion at all!! They couldn't care less if you are Xtian or Hindu or whatever. They want the work to be done professionally. Thats my experience.

You are right to certain extent. But during campaign OBAMA found it necessary to declare he is not a Muslim but a christian. Americans are scared of any one with a non christian background as the head. After so many years they have accepted a woman and a colored person as their candidates. They still are scared of Muslims. Bu t they have come a long way after 200 years of democracy.

Well you cant prove that. In a few years they will accept other faith people as their head. Our cultures are a bit scary to the westerners until they understand us.
