Has Standard oil remained the same(undivided) and dint lose out of monopoly charges by the government of America, it would have been worth billions high on the top. Great to see Exxon mobil keeping the legacy. But still missing the Lehman brother, it had its fair share of luck now evaporated. John D. Rockefeller-Standard Oil and Henry Lehman-Lehman Brothers Holdings were touched to sky by their respective founder all done in once own life time.

Dude, your rankings are just based on revenue which is nothing but ur sales without taking major it's profit after tax separately, and ur last column shows the profit and you see those are in top 10, they are not even top list either. Example : HSBC (according to Forbes' list it is the biggest Co. in 2008 because it had 2.3 trillion asset, 156 billion revenue and 19.4 bil profit, but when you consider Exxon , it has mere 93billion of asset, 378 billion of revenue and 12 billion of profit. Then you compare who is best.
If your revenue is more but profit falls 97% of that, then it is not a great acheivement. where as if ur profit as good as ur revenune like HSBC, it shows the best. That is why Forbes' list has recognised by all over world not CNN.

This is just the revenue genrated Vs the profits and not the valuation of the company...
Monthly salary system is full of flaws as we have seen. 1) Payment delays, freezing of payment and non-payment. 2) Employers do not know reality of their available finances, hence by paying monthly, they speculate, and fail to give monthly salary when their business fails. WEEKLY SALARY is good both for employees and employers: 1) Weekly payment - so family gets regular money to buy essentials, pay rental, children's education, health care optimize, and no stress if payment is delayed by a day or two. 2) Employers know the real finances available in their pocket, risk aversion is more, and chances of business failure less. So friend! What do you think is better? Recession has brought us together. I feel that WEEKLY SALARY SYSTEM is good. Om Namoh Shivay

It doesn't matter much. People will almost get the same money. But it is interesting if we divide all months into exact 4 weeks. So, a year has 13 months 1 day (or 2 days in a leap year). This can be celebrated as public holidays and may not be associated with normal week days. Everyone gets exact salaries in exactly four weeks. This can allow making better financial plans!

I feel weekluy salary system is not good..You work increases as well for the organization..Personal budgeting is done monthly..and all the charges like elctricity, phone, instalments are paid in terms of months.

That's not good. Most of the bills like electricity, Telephone & others are on a monthly basis. Besides if we get weekly salaries it will be spend quickly and are not large enough to make purchases like cell-phones, TVs Refridgerator, whatnot.

That is how real expenditures will be done (if weekly salary). Speculative and extravagant expenditures are done (if monthly salary). That is the purpose of Savings Account in Banks - to deposit your hard earned money, weekly.

You are wrong my friend. 1. With weekly income, you can never determine or achieve long term objectives like buying a decent house for example 2. To disburse weekly income, the accounts department has to work more and probably employ more people. This leads to drain of company income on unneccessary employee salaries. You loose. 3. Weekly salaries are common in countries where hire and fire exists. Not in a society like India, where most people work all their lives in one company. 4. Europeans and Americans have a weekly salary system for lower rung employees who go on their weekends and never come back after the boozing. 5. In India you wont find a bride if you dont have a fixed monthly income. 6. Employers find it easy to plan money once a month to pay off the huge wages bill. The reason is that most customers have a credit system of a minimum of 30 days. So the company can expect (although hypothetically) that it will have that money in 30 days rather than 7 days, to pay off bills and wages.
