Its fine. They have money and I am sure they proved over the years that they have stable life and mind as well. Now coming to the people who estimate the wealth, and do surveys (in this case Forbes), pls make sure that u ppl give next month salary to ur employees. Every alternate Month , I used to read, Lehman brothers/Merryl Lynch did this survey, did that estimate, downgraded growth of countries etc. What they forgot is look at their own account books
I happen to work for Mr. Gates's company and i know some information rediff users will find interesting. Warren Buffet lifestyle is also very similiar to Bill Gates.
1) Bill Gates owns two cars, he dosent have a driver. Even Warren BUffet drives his own car 2) Bill & Warren have donated $30 billion each to Bill&Melina Foundation. The body should spend all of their money within 25 years on charity. 3) Bill & Warren dont own private jets like other celebrities do, they feel its not required for them 4) Bill & Warren are both from middleclass families and started their business from scratch with no help from their families 5) Bill & Warren's children have no stake whatsover in their business. They will not inherit much of their father's earnings 6) Bill drives to McDonalds outlets in US and has snack bites, Warren still lives in the same house since 1950's a modest & simple house 7) Both provide direct and indirect employment to millions of people all over the world. They also contribute a lot to world economy with their strong leadership skills 8) Bill Gates stepped down from being the Chairman of Microsoft to work full time on Bill & Melinda foundation, he reads a lot about funding new researches on medicines and vaccines. 9) Warren Buffet is the director now at Bill&Melinda foundation 10) Both know the value of money and how to use it wisely,
I am giving up my father's fortune after getting inspired by them. Want to donate all of my father's money to charity

I admire your thoughts about donation and charity EXCEPT that you do not fall under the category of Gates or Buffet :-)

why dont you make your own fortune AND THEN DONATE IT. It is your father's money. Bill gates does not donate his fathers money.
A true rich person is the one who has least needs. Today the persons whom the world calls rich have so much wealth and still they want more. A greedy person is the poor and happy person is wealthy. Fortunately we cannot take a single penny for the divine journey after we leave the earth behind.

I am quoting Buffett from the Fortune Magazine. It is unfortunate that we Indians still consider wealth a taboo issue.
(FORTUNE Magazine) – WARREN BUFFETT, 56, the chairman and guiding genius of Berkshire Hathaway, the phenomenally successful holding company, is worth at least $1.5 billion. But don't bother being jealous of his three children. Buffett does not believe that it is wise to bequeath great wealth and plans to give most of his money to his charitable foundation. Having put his two sons and a daughter through college, the Omaha investor contents himself with giving them several thousand dollars each at Christmas. Beyond that, says daughter Susan, 33, ''If I write my dad a check for $20, he cashes it.''
Buffett is not cutting his children out of his fortune because they are wastrels or wantons or refuse to go into the family business -- the traditional reasons rich parents withhold money. Says he: ''My kids are going , to carve out their own place in this world, and they know I'm for them whatever they want to do.'' But he believes that setting up his heirs with ''a lifetime supply of food stamps just because they came out of the right womb'' can be ''harmful'' for them and is ''an antisocial act.'' To him the perfect amount to leave children is ''enough money so that they would feel they could do anything, but not so much that they could do nothing.'' For a college graduate, Buffett reckons ''a few hundred thousand dollars'' sounds about right.

what is said is true if you are talking abt philosophy, if you see work is workship, Mr.gates and Mr.buffet gave employment to lakhs of people directly and indirectly. they leave very simple and are very much principled in their life.

What you said is absolutely right, but not always correct (about today's persons..) . Warren Buffet and Bill Gates are known as much for their philantropy as for their Affluence!!! They have donated amounts that we cannot event count.. Its a shame that we do not have a single Ambani or a Tata or a Premji in this list.
