This slow down should create more entrepreneurs
by Ramadugu Gowtham on Oct 06, 2008 02:10 PM

This slow down should create more entrpreneurs rather than people who crave for high salaries. If they establish new companies and create employment both our country will improve and we can get some employment opportunities. This is what I feel.

Here is a proverb by Sidhu "Everything comes from COW is not a MILK". Its not necessory that everything your company earning and decisions taken are due to presenece of IIM guys in your company or their presence in campus. Now a days media becomes so strong, corporates do not think to give more attention to campus functions of IIMs. Talkiing in terms of talent then India is a Hub for it. You can hire engineer and teach them all management lesson and have a techno-functional guy working for you. I might be wrong but its my thought over this IIM craze [Go for talent not for Name].

I don't think any "school" can teach you how to become a good manager. History tells us that the greatest of the businessmen were not MBAs (Dhirubhai, Bill Gates, Larry Ellison just to name a few)

In my opinion the best way to grow in any organization is to start from bottom, work hard, acquire all the skills necessary to do your job in the most efficient way. And if you are good enough you will become a Manager and a part of the Top management.

Its frustrating to see so many CAT aspirants spending years solving useless mathematical problems and remembering useless word lists.

Never heard of anyone who did all this and then became a successful entrepreneur.

I think you are wrong..I never heard that Relaince(Dhirubhai) or MIcrosoft (Bill Gates) hiring much of the IIM guys(Remove one or two exceptions)..Even they would have come to these companies after some other experience.Only financial instituation majorely hire IIM graduates.

sorry to corrext you, but do please go through the placement reports of colleges to gain a better understanding of the recruiters. Financial institutions are not the only recruiters in India. FMCG, Telecom, Consulting, IT, Logistics/Supplychain, HR among many others....

LOL - I think Rediff purposely puts any random article on the IIMs just for having the fun at seeing morons slug it out in the Message Boards.

Idiot#1 : I think IIM is garbage. They do no work and take high package.
(If companies do not see value in these graduates they will not pay even a single paisa let alone 10-20 lakhs. Its all about market value. If you think you know better than companies then you're free to start your own multi-billion co. & NOT hire IIM grads)

Idiot#2 : IIMs use taxpayers money to learn and earn high salary. Therefore they are B@$t'ards and deserve to be hanged
(*Any* idea what is Amar Singh's Net Worth? Or Devegowda's ? ALL that is Tax payers money. But hey no questions asked here!
Fact : IIM-A's students are paying more fees than many any other private BSchools so their education is NOT subsidized.Ppl dont slog through entrances like CAT just to get a subsidized education. They do so because IIMs are centres of excellence. They will gladly agree to NOT receive a subsidy for their education)

Idiot#3 : MBA are morons.See how they brought down Lehman Sisters (Its another story that Idiot#3 learnt of Lehman's existence only after it went Bankrupt - but why should that stop him ? :D ) Only true hard workers are CAs / Engineers / Doctors / Toilet-Cleaners (depending on Idiot#3's affiliations> can create a great co.)

Universal Idiot: I think IIM ppl are a bunch of {insert favorite abuse} (Well CAT & IIM are not for everyone.Heard of IIPM?)

hoping the situation will be fine soon.
but sooner or later the market will come out of the bubble; not only for salary of iim guys but for all overrated values will be corrected....(e.g real estate prices, etc etc )

Still IIMs will be a hot destination for intellects...
